For DC television fans, it’s not long to wait until the upcoming Arrow spinoff, The Flash, begins. Last week we got to see the teaser trailer, and now we’ve been given more details about the series, along with hints as to the villains Barry Allen will be facing following his power-giving accident. So, what did the creators tell us at the Television Critics Association press tour? by Cookie N Screen Prison; it’s a difficult sentence to do. While people who have committed crimes most probably deserve to spend their time locked up inside away from society, there is still the empathy of humanity panging as they stuff mouldy food (and tampons) into their mouths. The worst is having a fatal illness, imagine knowing that you are dying and the last moments you are going to see are same walls you’ve been starring at for years and years. Imagine that. Never seeing your loved ones again and having your hallowed whispered words to strangers whose faces have changed since you first arrived, it’s difficult. by Gemma Williams Here’s a double helping of Chasing Life! If only we got that with new episodes of this addictive show. by Melissa Haggar We may be almost half way through the final season of True Blood, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there – oh, no! If the thought of being without your favourite residents of Bon Temps to look forward propels you into a downward spiral, then fear no more – because there’s plenty of new (and pretty cool) merchandise to fill that void! by Julia Lawson We have ourselves an amazing show. I know it. You know it. And now the Emmy nominations know it too. ABC’s Once Upon a Time has finally received recognition for the class and intricate details supporting the fairytale rewrites through its nomination for the ‘Outstanding Costumes for a Series – 2014’ category. Congratulations to all involved… but who stands in OUAT’s way to costume victory? And can they possibly beat the Evil Queen’s winter wardrobe? by Hayley Charlesworth It’s a double-whammy of Teen Wolf goodness this week, as we look at both the episodes “Muted” and “The Benefactor”. Muted harkens back to the halcyon days of season one, where Scott McCall’s greatest worry wasn’t his friends constantly being murdered, but the incredibly important sport of lacrosse. But while Muted may have been a nostalgia trip at times, both it and the following episode The Benefactor also takes the Teen Wolf universe in new and interesting directions: with new monsters, a new Beta, and a mysterious, mouthless assassin on the loose. by Melissa Haggar Almost reaching mid series, the fourth episode of True Blood brought with it a whole new world of change. The character dynamics have slowly been changing from the get-go of Season Seven, but it was more than obvious in this episode that there is a new force to be reckoned with, and her name is Sookie Stackhouse. by Cookie N Screen Have you ever had the feeling that you were tumbling? Spiralling out of control through time and space, wormholes of your mind as your conscious leads you through your darkest memories. As the warp of the clock, ticking on your life in time with your twin hearts, as though you’re fleeting 2000 years cavorting through the universe are mere specs on the tail of a shooting star cascading to a planet. Burning with the two suns of Gallifrey is the question, am I a good man? by Cookie N Screen Usually around the middle of a season, you’ll find the episodes lagging somewhat. You have to adapt to the curve and the changing story lines in a way so astutely clever that occasionally certain episodes fall through the cracks. After all, as much as we’d like it to be so, not all slices of stellar entertainment series can be on point all the time. Can it? I bet you think I am going to say; “well, not Orange Is The New Black” but this episode Comic Sans is about as lacklustre as the font it is named after. And yet, it is still better than the sludge that comes on television daily. by Helen Langdon It’s that time of year again, when the nominations for the Primetime Emmys are announced. And this year, Game of Thrones is the most nominated series with a total of 19 nominations to its name, while new film-to-TV adaptation Fargo is nominated 18 times. The latest instalment of American Horror Story, Coven, is third place in the nominations list with 17. Let’s look at how the nominations break down in the major categories! |
