After a relatively disappointing premiere episode, True Blood returns to form as the second episode ushers in new plot pathways for the series to take, whilst throwing in some well-delivered twists that make the seventh series exciting again. With plenty to get your teeth (or fangs) into, the episode was well stocked with interesting storylines centring on the Hep-V vampires, whilst viewers get a first look at Eric in the series, via a sultry sex dream with Jason.

Depending on your personal taste, that might be the best or the worst part about this summer. If you’re an advertiser, it’s an excuse to make a new advert which refers to football and vaguely alludes to the tournament. Just like the teams playing in the group stages, the adverts range wildly in quality from mini-movies to sexist adverts seemingly lodged in the 1970s. No matter how tenuous the link might be between their product and football, advertisers have all jumped on the bandwagon. Here’s some of the ads you might see in the UK right now! Hold on to your TARDIS Whovians because we are finally crash landing! The brand new season of Doctor Who has just released a premiere date. This season is brimming with excitement as Peter Capaldi, life-long Doctor Who fan, don the cape of The Doctor and alongside Jenna Coleman as Clara, will be travelling through time and space. Show runner Stephen Moffat and his team of time travelling time lords have created a lot of intrigue over the past months. by Cookie N Screen I cannot stand Valentine’s Day. One of the many reasons why I do not like the commercialised big booming pink hearted money grabbing fucktard of a day is because I am single; we’ll get that out of the way first. I hate being reminded of the gaping hole of air beside me as I lounge in my sweat pants eating Nutella with my fingertips and continuously watching Orange Is The New Bl- and I may have figured out why I am still single. Regardless, no matter how bad I may have it on Valentine’s Day, imagine how bad it is inside Litchfield prison for the lady convicts. And this is precisely why I am talking about Valentines this summer’s day. by Hayley Charlesworth “From the ashes…rise” proclaimed the trailers for the return of Teen Wolf in its fourth season. And in the season opener, The Dark Moon, we’re taken back to the most important ashes of all, those from the Halefire that preceded the show’s pilot, and formed the back story of so many of these characters. The Dark Moon is an exciting, very different episode with a happy mix of action and horror. The only problem is, it seems to disregard the consequences of the preceding season. by Helen Langdon Original Netflix series Sense8 keeps on adding stars to its cast, with former Doctor Who companion Freema Agyeman announced today as joining the series. From the brains of the Wachowski siblings (The Matrix) and J Michael Straczynski (creator and show-runner of Babylon 5), Sense8 is Netflix’s latest addition to its original programming. With such a strong sci-fi pedigree, they’ve got to be hoping that it’s just as critically acclaimed as Netflix’s other works. by Melissa Haggar Here it is, Truebies! The long-awaited, final season of True Blood has begun, and kicked off in an especially bloody fashion with the Season Seven Premiere episode. After six seasons and a whole lot of crazy, the adventure has now reached the beginning of the end, with audiences keen to find out what had happened to Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) after his nude reading turned into a blazing affair in the final episode of the previous season, not to mention what fate would befall the other inhabitants of Bon Temps, as they can never seem to catch a break. by Cookie N Screen Over the weekend, stars of your favourite television shows headed to an extravagant affair to award those who have excelled in art of the silver screen. While many award ceremonies have come and gone, this was a coveted affair that was enthusiastically received and glorious adorned your favourite shows with statuettes. The Critics Choice Awards, heralding the best in television work, was met with a wonderful response as hit shows such as Orange Is The New Black and Fargo scooped up the most awards naming them as one of the best in innovative and fresh dramas of this past year. by Graham Osborne Fargo has come to an end. But fear not, noble reader, the series finale managed to tie everything up in a neat little bow. A bow made of twists, turns and that little knot to hold it all together, wrapped around the present of suspense for the gift of viewing for you to open and enjoy with your eyes of wonderment… Where was I going with this again? by Melissa Haggar A true cult classic, Xena: Warrior Princess started as a humble spin-off of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, but soon elevated itself above its predecessor not only in popularity but also in ratings. The fantasy adventure series kicked its way onto screens in 1995 (created by Robert Tapert and John Schulian) and ran for six seasons until it concluded its action-packed journey in 2001. Xena possessed so many qualities that some TV shows now seem to lack – it had melodrama, ridiculous slapstick comedy (without being cheesy), action and adventure, whilst also dealing with complex issues like pacifism, sacrifice and concepts of morality and friendship. |
