So we’ve looked at the UK adverts for the World Cup – but we started the World Cup with a lot more countries, and they’ve also got loads of good and bad adverts going on. by Leah Stone The 100 most certainly has potential. We are introduced to the Ark, a huge space station above the earth’s atmosphere, the floating home of the remnants of the human race. Clarke Griffins is one of the titular 100, a group of teens who cannot be sentenced to death for being under age (any crime, no matter how small, is punishable by death) who get sent to earth 100 years before predicted to see if it is suitable to live on. by Helen Langdon Big news for Arrow fans today – Superman is joining the cast! Well, kind of. Superman the character might not be showing up to help Oliver Queen fight crime, but it has just been announced that actor Brandon Routh will be appearing in series three of Arrow as Ray Palmer, also known as superhero the Atom. by Melissa Haggar With the second episode in the series shedding a bit of light on the gloomy tunnel that is True Blood, this week’s ‘Fire in the Hole’ seemed to transform the series back into its usual style – complete with flashbacks! At a much more even pace, the episode brought on some genuine emotion that has so far only been apparent in a few number of characters despite their serious life or death situations (although considering how many times they go through this it is any wonder any of them can muster up any energy anymore). by Robbie Jones Has your life been left empty due to the lack of The Walking Dead on our screens? Well fear not my friends, for Season Five starts in October, and that’s only four short months away! Season Four was far and away one of the best seasons so far, with some stellar episodes and performances. The season finale saw the majority of our heroes trapped in Terminus, a place they were led to believe would be a haven for survivors, but instead, a possible home of cannibals. The only characters not to be captured yet are Carol, Tyreese and baby Judith, who are the stars of this first clip released for Season Five. By Helen Langdon All the best bad guys are British. It’s such an established fact, it’s now the basis of a car advert. In American media, both film and TV, when they need a villain who’s still charismatic and morally ambiguous, they tend to head across the pond. It might just be a national fascination with Received Pronunciation. Or maybe it’s because Brits were once the colonial powers, leaving a lingering mistrust of posh British people in the collective consciousness. by Cookie N Screen When the first series of Orange Is The New Black came out back in 2013 and before we were wrecked with its brilliance, there was one character who welcomed us like Piper to the Litchfield prison: Lorna Morello. Originally from New Jersey, she is tasked with driving the inmates from place to place, under the watchful eye of the judiciary system otherwise she could easily escape. Morello also has a tackle with her engagement to the much spoken about Christopher while still getting her kicks with Nicki’s face permanently attached to her privates. Morello was helpful, poignant and squeaky voiced who provided a source of sanity in the otherwise crazed antics of Litchfield prison. And then we all found out she is actually a little bit insane. by Helen Langdon The Doctor Who publicity team is fully in motion. In the last couple of weeks, we’ve heard that the show will be premiering on British TV on August 23rd. Before that, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will be off on an around-the-world publicity tour, kicking off in Cardiff on August 7th with the official worldwide premiere of “Deep Breath”. And then there’s the teaser trailers, which keep revealing more and more details... by Hayley Charlesworth Following on from last week’s exciting Mexican caper The Dark Moon, 117 is Teen Wolf’s strongest episode in quite a while, and potentially one of the funniest in its whole history. With almost every cast member given the time to shine, and a perfect combination of action, gore, and humour, a lot of the praise for 117 must be directed at Ian Nelson, who portrays a very different Derek Hale. |
