Once Upon a Time - The Evil Queen (Spoilers)

8/31/2013

Who needs 3D when your TV show has magic beans and fairytale flashbacks – one not (necessarily) caused by the other…

A Regina-focused episode meant there was a lot in the costume department. In fact we were treated to a unique dose of Once Upon a Time fancy dress this week with the Queen (Lana Parrilla) leaving her snappy dressing at the castle and opting for the Bohemian ‘nearly-headless’ peasant garb. Served its purpose well, convincing Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) via sight and smell that she needed a helping hand.

Perfect timing for the crafty unveiling of a poisoned apple, you cry! But yes they’ve already done that. Or rather they will have already done that following what they have already soon to do in Season 1. Yes? There is a lot to be said for the chronological, old school happily ever afters.

Breaking Bad - Confessions (Spoilers)

8/28/2013

There’s not a word in the dictionary that can describe my love for Breaking Bad, and there’s also no word to aptly describe my grief at the fact it’s coming to an end. Since this is the first time Breaking Bad has ever been covered on I’m With Geek, so let me bring you up to speed:

Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is a Chemistry teacher who, diagnosed with cancer, reluctantly enters the drug business, partnering with former student and addict Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) to ensure the financial future of his wife Skyler (Anna Gunn), son Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte) and unborn daughter is secure by producing Crystal Meth which, due to Walt’s knowledge of Chemistry, is the best on the market.

Dexter - Make Your Own Kind of Music Review (Spoilers)

Dexter fans rejoice! The finale train finally seems to have left the station and is picking up wind. After a slow and somewhat rocky start; dealing with the emotional wreckage of Debra’s shooting of Captain Laguerta (Lauren Velez) to save her brother Dexter (Michael C Hall) last season, and establishing the final storyline for our slaying siblings; Dr Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) a psychologist with a few psychotic tendencies of her own, a killer with a penchant for removing brains, an apprentice serial killer for Dexter to train up and the return of dear Dexter’s dull, but demented dalliance Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski) the show finally appears to have gotten back into it’s stride.

From The Trenches: The Five Second Nightmare

8/26/2013

One and a quarter million people have been shot with a Taser. I’m one of them. Here’s how it happened:

I’m working for a (short-lived) National Geographic Channel show called Factory Floor with Marshall Brain. The show profiles how things are made. In fact, whenever I tell people what I’m doing, they think I’m working on the very successful Discovery Channel show How It’s Made. I then have to deliver the bad news that I’m working on the show they’ve never heard of and probably will never see. For this particular episode, we’re in Phoenix, Arizona immortalizing the manufacture of tennis balls and Tasers. Because, like all shows I seem to work on, we don’t have any money, we have to get each factory done in a day.

Sherlock Series Three - What to Expect?

8/16/2013

Picture
By Cookie 'N' Screen

It’s safe to say that one of the hotly anticipated television events of this year is Sherlock series three and yes, I am here again to talk to you about the gospel of Sherlock. After all, earlier this week, we went through how we think Sherlock escaped his big fall at the end of series two, and a couple of months ago, I discussed how much I love Sherlock (the answer is a lot.) So with a recent teaser trailer, the episodes being filmed and wrapped up, and all of us quivering with anticipation, series three is coming. But with Stephen Moffat, Mark Gatiss and the cast and crew keeping schtum about what we can expect, I have taken the liberty of writing my own expectations. Check out the trailer below then join me and my theories...

Sherlock - How did he do it?

Picture
By Cookie 'N' Screen

On the evening of January the 15th 2012 a television phenomenon had a national and soon the world gripped in turmoil. It is has been over a year since this event and we are still shaking with hopelessness and emotions. On that date, The Reichenbach Feels...I mean Falls, the finale of Sherlock Series Two, aired. On that dreadful day we saw Sherlock throw himself off of a tall building to his death only to revealed as alive, faking the whole thing. No sooner were we mourning the loss of this great television figure than we are gripping each other screaming “how the hell did he do that?”

And the 12th Doctor is... Peter Capaldi!

8/4/2013

You know you're a fan of something when, on a day like today, with such a huge, game changing announcement closing in, you find yourself unable to focus on anything else. All day long I've been checking on the latest rumours, watching the latest betting odds and generally discussing the casting of the 12th Doctor with anybody who'll listen.

I've gone through the panic when Aneruin Barnard shot to the top. I watched with apprehension as Peter Capaldi, a personal favourite, and Daniel Rigby danced for the favours of bookmakers. I settled down to watch the live reveal with however many millions around the world and shuffled to the edge of my seat as Zoe Ball stepped forward to unveil to new Time Lord. My heart was beating, my palms sweating, adrenaline rushing through my veins. Were the BBC about to make a fantastic announcement of a huge mistake?

And then this happened:
