Behind the scenes at I’m With Geek there has been some rumbling… OUAT’s race for the ‘Outstanding Costumes for a Series – 2014’ category at the Emmys could feature some additional hurdles thanks to Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey. But to put fact behind the wild claims of fairytale costume greatness, here are some of the top costume moments over the past four seasons of OUAT brimming with anticipation of the fantastic wardrobes to follow. by Cookie N Screen Parodies are only as a good as the intellect behind them. Sometimes, a great spoof is lauded as an impressive piece of comedy; wittily and a lot of the times, it is just a collection of toilet humour and sex jokes. With great movie spoofs such as Airplane! still tickling our ribcages, sometimes great spoofs can be television shows too! None have caught our laughter and furore more so than A Touch of Cloth. by Helen Langdon Season two of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD might be two months away, but there are two bits of casting news fans will want to hear. Firstly, Cobie Smulders will be back as Maria Hill. Last seen working for Stark Industries, it’s unknown how much she’ll be appearing, but it’s another neat tie-in to upcoming film Avengers: Age of Ultron. But more importantly, season two will also see genre TV legend Lucy Lawless joining the agents. by Robbie Jones Ah, Star Wars. Only two words and yet upon hearing them, so many thoughts and memories spring to mind. Quite simply one of the best film franchises of all time, it’s always found ways to entertain fans when there weren’t any films coming out. We’ve had video games, short films, merchandising and TV shows. With another film on the way, there comes another TV show too, heading to Disney Channel: Rebels. by Julia Lawson Do you really ‘Wanna Marry Harry’? Sounds a bit like tune from the nineties which never quite made it… ITV, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to take on Fox’s answer to The Bachelor. But wait, how many British bachelors would twelve American girls know off the top of their heads… by Hayley Charlesworth In the two most recent episodes of The 100, the Lost meets Lord of the Flies vibe comes into full effect, as the survival of the teens on Earth is threatened by both the dangers of the ground (from genetically modified animals to the mysterious Grounders) and from each other. Earth Skills sees Clarke and the team head out to rescue one of their own, while Earth Kills takes a much darker tone, as good intentions lead to disastrous consequences. by Melissa Haggar After an enjoyable episode last week, it seems True Blood has reverted back into the lands of the dreary and dull, with an episode where nothing actually really happens...at all. Sure, there are some events, but they seem more like one-off’s, with the episode not being nearly as cohesive as last week’s. The episode drags on at an uneven pace, with scattered events that offer no real progression for the story following the death of the HEP-V vampires in the last episode. This was a major event, and one which offered resolution – but now it would seem there are no new events left to unfold (apart from what is going to happen to Eric – will he meet the true death, or will people find a cure?), and the ones that are, are probably going to be left until the last episode. by Robbie Jones Warning: Spoilers for Seasons One to Three Homeland is a show that nobody could’ve predicted the success of. It became a smash hit when it started, and rightfully so. But the show has gone very downhill, following a third season that left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths. However, despite all its flaws, Season Three had a perfect ending, an ending that perhaps could’ve ended the entire show had Season Four not already been commissioned. The whole show relied on both Carrie and Brody, and with Brody now dead, carrying on just seems a little pointless. But, hope may not be lost just yet as the first teaser for Season Four has been released, and it doesn’t look too bad. by Helen Langdon Critically acclaimed US drama Boardwalk Empire returns on DVD for its fourth season, which recently gained seven nominations in the 2014 Emmy Awards. The Blu-ray and DVD will hit UK stores on 18th August, although it’s already available to own and watch right now via digital download. by Cookie N Screen Monty Python has been a part of, hopefully, all of our lives. For as long as I can remember, I’ve sat up with my sister and father and chortled at the sketches and the movies. When the crew of funny men announced that they were getting back together for several live shows with favourite sketches and movie moments, I was completely delighted! And then I saw the ticket price, woops! Never fear, because nationwide in cinemas and on UK Channel Gold tonight, they will be screening the three-hour live event and it looks incredible. So why not have a look at some of the best sketches from their incredible show Monty Python’s Flying Circus? |
