TV and Towels: A Guide to Their Usefulness

It’s National Towel Day today!

In order to celebrate this most glorious of days, we here at I’m With Geek decided that we would honour the humble towel in all of its glory. We debated long and hard over how to achieve such a feat, before deciding on how useful a towel would be, were you to travel to a TV series. In order to maintain posterity, we chose to award the Towel Oriented Workload Efficiency Level to a variety of TV universes, breaching the realms of science fiction, fantasy, and even the mundane. The scoring system was out of ten, depending how useful using your towel would be in a situation, with One being “no use whatsoever” and Ten being “handy camouflage should the Bugblatter Beast of Traal turn up.”

With that out the way, let’s get started!

Valentines Day is supposed to be one of those times of year where you’re guaranteed some sort of intimate bedroom dance ritual with your significant other/one night stand/random hobo in the alley behind the bar you were trying to find initial said one night stand. But that’s enough about my last Valentines Day. There are more pressing problems at hand.

Dexter - Goodbye Miami Review (Spoilers!)

Everything that was said last week... I take it all back. The finale train has stalled and our ‘neat monster’ of old has returned, yet again, to his sloppy ways - leaving many fans astounded that the whole of Miami Metro hasn’t worked out his secret life. With just two episodes - ever - to go, the show should be on fire. Dexter, boxed in on all corners. Every member of Miami Metro closing in on his secret, the FBI preparing to pounce and a serial killer on the prowl...

Instead we’re forced to watch as Dexter, who just a few weeks earlier was so desperate to have his sister Deborah back in his life, prepares to abandon his life and jet off to Argentina with son and Serial-killing girlfriend, Hannah McKay, leaving Deb behind. Have I mentioned that Hannah tried to kill Deborah?

It’s agonizing to see a much-loved show, which had all the potential to go down in a blaze of glory, limping towards the finish line with a weak final chapter. The fact that Dexter and Hannah’s plans might be derailed by a simple treadmill - more on this later - gives more credence to the idea that, as a show, Dexter truly has run it’s course..
