With not long to go before the Twelfth Doctor makes his first proper appearance (literally minutes), it's time to announce the winner of our Doctor Who Companion Faceoff. Although some other rounds were very hard-fought, in a few cases being decided by a single vote, it's safe to say that the eventual winner was a bit of a landslide. Here on I'm With Geek, our ultimate Doctor Who companion is...
Have you voted in yesterday’s semi-final yet, choosing between the Ponds? Today, our Doctor Who Companion Faceoff is a classic one, with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart going up against Turlough (somehow the sneak keeps on getting through each round). So, let’s look at some of their memorable moments! It’s a big universe out there. As we’ve seen, the Doctor isn’t particularly picky about which planet his companions come from. He prefers humans, but other species have been companions. And a couple of times, the companions haven’t even been alive. Today on I’m With Geek, we’re looking at the Doctor’s robotic companions. Over a millennia old, and having gone through 13 incarnations, you would have thought that the Doctor had managed to tick off every life goal. But there’s one thing he’s never managed – he’s not been ginger, no matter how hard he wants it. But that hasn’t stopped him from picking up some red-headed companions along the way. Amy Pond might be the most famous of ginger companions, but today it’s a battle between old-school companions Turlough and Mel. Doctor Who might be a very British show, but when it comes to companions he's tended to err on the side of the English. But not always. Today, the Companion Faceoff sees two companions from north of the wall battling it out. It's the Scottish companions - Amy Pond vs Jamie McCrimmon. Like the Doctor says, he’s a doctor of many things. But first and foremost, he’s a scientist. Sometimes he’s travelling across time and space to satisfy his intellectual curiosity, and sometimes he’s tasting something to discover its chemical structure. And sometimes he takes on companions who are also scientists, companions who can actually understand his gobbledygook. Today in our Doctor Who Companion Faceoff, it's the Third Doctor's Liz Shaw vs the Fourth/Fifth Doctor's Nyssa. Yesterday we looked at the female doctors who’ve been companions. Today, it’s time to look at the male members of the medical profession that have stepped through the TARDIS doors. We're kicking it back to 1974 to consider Harry Sullivan, and the more recent companion Rory Williams. It's Day Two of our Doctor Who Companion Faceoff! Today, we're moving on to the companions that were pre-destined to travel with the Doctor. Sometimes the Doctor chooses the companion, sometimes the companion chooses the Doctor, and sometimes the universe takes things into its own hands and keeps on throwing the companion into the Doctor's path. Today, we’re kicking off the I’m With Geek official Doctor Who Companion Faceoff. After all, we could do a countdown, but we want to let you guys have your say in deciding the ultimate companion. Each day, we’ll be featuring two companions, and asking you to vote for your favourites to progress through to the next round. Up first, we have two of the Doctor’s love interests. Feast your eyes on these. |
