If you thought that intro was incredible moody, then you’ve caught us at a moment where we’ve watched the Doctor Who trailer for the millionth time after BBC dropped the footage this weekend. Fawned over by fans galore, it showcases Peter Capaldi, a fan favourite to take the helm of TARDIS, in the role of the Twelfth Doctor. Taking off from Matt Smith’s exit in 2013’s Christmas Special, Capaldi will take Clara on another adventure as she deals with her first regeneration and a Doctor who is not only suffering from a kidney change, but a crisis of conscious.
Directed by horror favourite Ben Wheatley, the opening episode has added a hefty weight of darkness on our time traveller. Though the Doctor has grappled with the blacker marks on his soul in previous episodes such as The Water of Mars and the Day of the Doctor; series eight promises to be an incredibly shadowy journey whilst still keeping to the beat of intrigue and adventure.
