Whilst it may be one more day still until we (the UK) get to see it, season three goes live tonight stateside. We’re finally here, after all this time, and it’s merely a handful of hours until episode one and we can start to see whether or not I’ve been right in my predictions. As I’m sure you’re all aware, I’ve spent the last week covering as many of the major characters as my wellbeing would allow, but there is one particular lady I’ve yet to give a forecast for… Daenerys Targaryen is west-bound with a group of ships, a Dothraki 'horde', a former-knight-turned-slaver-turned-knight-again, and a trio of dragons the size of small dogs. She isn’t on a course for Westeros just yet, but she is slowly building the army she has often fantasised about. Here’s what I think she’s going to be up to in the near future…

Here’s what I think she’s going to be up to in the near future… By Jamie Kennett It’s been an interesting time for the Night’s Watch. Mance Rayder’s amassing a huge army of wildlings beyond the Wall, dead people keep coming back to life, and now white walkers have begun marcher ever-closer to civilisation. When we left the band of sworn brothers at the end of season two, they were fortifying themselves on the ancient landmark that is the Fist of the First Men. Jon Snow had gone off on a reconnaissance/assassination mission with a squad of rangers that included the near-legendary Qhorin Halfhand, and Sam Tarly was left to steward for Commander Mormont in Jon’s absence. Now, the Halfhand is dead, Jon has been taken captive by a band of wildlings, and Sam has made a mess in his trousers after coming face-to-face with an army of white walkers. What lies in store for all them now? By Helen Fulton With the recent news of David Tennant and Billie Piper returning for the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who, the tension has been rising for the beginning of the new series starting tonight... The Bells of Saint John was written by Steven Moffat and brings back Matt Smith as The Doctor. However, even though he has a new assistant, this certainly isn't her first time on the series. Clara Oswin Oswald, played by the lovely Jenna-Louise Coleman, first appeared in the beginning of Series 7 Asylum if the Daleks as a human trapped in a Dalek (many loopholes have already ensued, hopefully this series will sort that right out!). But that wasn't all! She also returned in the Doctor Who Christmas Special The Snowmen, dying once again, but this time leaving the Doctor determined to track her down once and for all. By William John Like every other Whovian, I watched David Tennent explode in a ball of firey stuff on New Years Day, 2010 through tear stained eyes. The energy cleared and a young man with a large chin and a mop of hair emerged. We watched, silent, unsure of what to think as he examined his new body, checking to see if he had legs, eyes and ears, before musing over whether he’d become a girl. Still unsure, we watched as the apparent new Doctor suddenly remembered he was crashing down to Earth in a burning TARDIS… and then the Doctor really emerged. He threw himself around the console, laughing with excitement at the prospect of impending doom, shrugging off the woes from his previous life. Then something strange happened… I began to laugh with him. Uncontrollably. From tears to elation in couple of minutes, Matt Smith had me from the word ‘Geronimo’! By William John Big news, people! The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out next week, CONFIRMS that the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) and Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) WILL be appearing in the shows 50th Anniversary episode! They'll be appearing alongside cinema royalty John Hurt (Hellboy, Alien). The special will be feature-length and receive a limited worldwide cinema release in 3D! By Heather Stromski I will here and now claim David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, as my Doctor. They say you never forget your first, well technically, Eccleston was my first. Yes, I’m a NuWho acolyte. I know I’m missing a lot from Classic but I simply haven’t gotten to them yet. I digress… so Tennant was not my first but he was the one who made me fall in love. It’s not just that I fell in love with the Tenth Doctor, but I fell in love with all of it. By Jamie Kennett It’s one apparent king after another; there isn’t a single one of the major houses of Westeros that doesn’t think they have some kind of a claim to the kingship now. Stannis Baratheon is, by-and-large, the rightful king however, and should only have to contend with Daenerys Targaryen on who ought to sit on the Iron Throne. That being said, the odds of him donning the infamous golden crown have dropped drastically in the wake of his failed assault on King’s Landing. Nobody really knows what happened to Stannis or what was left of his army, after the battle, or how he and the remnants of his house plan to deal with his claim to the throne now that he’s been reduced to a largely powerless man on a big rock in the middle of the sea with no-one but a fire-worshipping priestess for company. by Heather Stromski One of the biggest, most important pieces of advice I can give to anyone who is starting out with Doctor Who (and isn’t starting with the Classic), is this: don’t be tempted by the popularity of the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, and skip Christopher Eccleston’s one-series run. This isn’t just because it’s a brilliant setup for Tennant and really helps us to see the journey and the changes that he has made. If you skip the Ninth Doctor, you don’t understand Rose’s initial reticence. You don’t understand what he means when he tells her, “That’s me, when we first met, and you made me better.” By Christian Kern In 1996, the 8th Doctor came on our screens in the form of Paul McGann. Sadly to date, McGann has only ever appeared as the Doctor on screen once with a few hidden cameos in the new series, the most notable being Human Nature where his sketch is seen in the Journal of Impossible Things, although McGann has portrayed the Doctor in countless audios and graces numerous covers for the Eighth Doctor Novels from BBC Books. "Grace, I came back to life before your eyes. I held back death. Look, I can't make your dream come true forever, but I can make it come true today." By William John Earlier today, Christian Kern brought you his top 3 Sylverster McCoy episodes and explained how great the 7th Doctor was, but how would he have fared in the show today? Well, if this video of McCoy delivering Matt Smith's famous speech from The Pandorica Opens is anything to go by, McCoy's Doctor could've gone on forever! Remember to check back later today for our top 3 8th Doctor stories! |
