There is possibly one person in American Horror Story, through all of their anthropologies that everyone expects excellence out of. In fact, she has even won an Emmy for it. Of course, I’m talking about Jessica Lange. Whether she is the matriarch of a ghost family, the stripper turned nun for an asylum or the motherfucking supreme, she has always excelled in her roles. So when she bounded to the next AHS project, Freak Show, it’s only natural that the woman should take up a character who embodies traits from all three previous outings:- a mother, a saint and a sinner.

So when she bounded to the next AHS project, Freak Show, it’s only natural that the woman should take up a character who embodies traits from all three previous outings:- a mother, a saint and a sinner. by Gemma Williams The Flash is back after a week’s break with Barry continuing to learn about his new powers and facing continued problems that are clearly going to lead to something bigger later in the series. by Helen Langdon “The Daughters of Stone” is the first Wizards vs Aliens episode without Benny (with Percelle Ascott’s name now gone from the credits), although it’s not like he’s been wiped out of the universe entirely. Tom asks what would Benny do, and the answer is, probably much the same as Katie does. In this story light on the aliens and heavy on the wizards, Katie calls Tom in to investigate ghosts in her grandfather’s theatre, which turns out to be a witch from the Neverside (witches are entirely different to wizards, being evil, and leave the negative gender connotations aside). by Robbie Jones For its first five episodes, Homeland Season Four was one of the worst shows on TV. But last week, it turned things around and delivered a smashing episode, which had hopefully promised a continuing increase in quality. This week wasn’t quite as good, however it did contain knock out performances, trippy sequences and a nice cameo. by Cookie N Screen Gotham has been lazing around storylines for a while now. Though last week and the time before that showed vast improvement, we are nowhere near compelled or even excited anymore to see the direction that the DC show is going. Unlike its previous outings such as Arrow and the now popular Flash, Gotham still feels very tentative about packing an almighty punch. And whilst the different atmosphere, stripping back the imaginative villains of the comic book, is admirable – it’s fear of plundering into its characters and keeping them at surface level is detrimental to the entire series that is now being dragged out longer. by Gemma Williams Ichabod returns and graces our screens, with more twists and turns to his tale than ever before. Where is the story going, and who can we trust? by Julia Lawson This episode gave us an insight into the Snow Queen’s past (no hints in the title you’ll notice). Other than that it provided some interesting hints towards the events of next week’s double episode, but nothing to blow your socks off. Unless you include Robin and Regina’s passionate reunion that is… by Robbie Jones After a rather dull instalment last week, The Walking Dead is back with another great episode, as emotions run high and secrets are revealed. by Graham Osborne Constantine is rapidly becoming one of life’s mysteries. Is it bad? Is it good? It’s almost impossible to tell. Ultimately, it seems there are many shows out there which are worse, but it’s hard to say why. This week a demonic record is going around, killing anyone who listens to it. Unsurprisingly, the entire episode revolves around rock and roll, with references to Constantine’s past as a musician. Sadly, there was no music video or version of the song played. But we can’t have everything. by Leah Stone Season eight of Doctor Who is over, and Capaldi’s first series as his Doctor has come to an end. Each episode has had a bit of a relation to Marmite: You either love it or you hate it. Last week’s episode receive rather positive reviews, with many people calling it the best episode in the series. This week, well, where do we start? |
