Ichabod returns and graces our screens, with more twists and turns to his tale than ever before. Where is the story going, and who can we trust?
This week, Henry has unleashed a Succubus upon the town of Sleepy Hollow. As she wreaks havoc, Ichabod, Katrina and Abbey must discover what creature they are dealing with and how to dispatch it. The problem with the succubus? She can change her appearance and voice to sound like the one her victim most desires. Katrina keeps having visions as Henry moves forth with his plan to raise Moloch.
One thing that never fails to amuse in this show is Ichabod’s integration in to modern day society. However, now there are two of them! The Cranes begin the episode having an intense conversation about love, for the camera to shift angles and reveal that they are watching what appears to be The Bachelor. After the previous issues with Katrina’s miraculous conception – or maybe not so miraculous as the case may be – you would think that she would have changed her outfit. She is wearing a Gothic outfit that they found in the hospital and she hated it from the beginning, and then had a baby growing in her, fighting to escape. She needs a new costume.

Horley is rapidly becoming a lovable recurring character and it now appears as though he is being given a love interest! Though this has been subtly hinted at previously, the succubus reveals his true feelings, but what of those of his desired? Ichabod is not pleased with the outcome and gives him a fatherly lecture which backfires as Horley still does not understand the situation. This would be fascinating as he deals in ancient/magical artefacts, making their team much more cohesive and perhaps help with the level of trust between them. Horley and Ichabod could have a beautifully hilarious bromance once the truth comes out; it’s clearly already beginning to happen.
The amount of magic shown is very little, despite magic having such a large role in the origins of the series. When Katrina sets off a protection spell, Abbey takes the reigns and saves the day like the badass she is by taking over and completing the spell, but that's more or less it for the episode.
Henry throwing a different monster at our beloved heroes is becoming stale quickly but thankfully, we always find out the reason for it during the episode. The ending in Heartless was less obvious and left on a cliffhanger for next week, leaving us with the question once again of how trustworthy Katrina really is.
