Behind the scenes at I’m With Geek there has been some rumbling… OUAT’s race for the ‘Outstanding Costumes for a Series – 2014’ category at the Emmys could feature some additional hurdles thanks to Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey. But to put fact behind the wild claims of fairytale costume greatness, here are some of the top costume moments over the past four seasons of OUAT brimming with anticipation of the fantastic wardrobes to follow.
2) Regina has style, be it her smart ‘Mayor of Storybrooke’ collection or full Evil Queen mode. Her Enchanted Forest wardrobe is something else entirely featuring feathers, collars, frills, fascinators, gowns, boots, high heels and platforms – phew. Diverse is an understatement, and even the Wicked Witch of the West rifled through the clothes rail while she was visiting the castle.
3) For Zelina, it’s not easy being green; that said, from the way she carries herself through her plotting, flying simian management and baby snatching you would never know. Unlike the Wicked musical storyline where Elphaba was dyed green thanks to potions during pregnancy, it was jealousy of her half-sister Regina’s golden life which made her literally green with envy. To be fair to both of them, they both had rather traumatic childhoods…
5) Frozen’s Elsa – big news, bigger costume. The dress was made famous by the Disney film and has been recreated almost exactly for OUAT's needs. All that was needed to accentuate the moment was a touch of CGI ice magic from Elsa’s fingertips and the new storyline was sold to the masses.
Excitement barely contained, someone hand me a paper bag…
