PLANET OF ORIGIN: Earth
DOCTOR: Tenth
Donna was the companion no one expected. When actress Catherine Tate was announced, audiences expected a shouty, comic character. What they got was an insecure woman who covered up her lack of self-esteem by shouting at the universe. Donna never entirely thought she was good enough (after all, she’s just a temp), and believed that she was only worth something because she was travelling with the Doctor. But the Doctor needs more companions like Donna, who aren’t there to simper at him and scream when they twist their ankles, but instead challenge him at every opportunity. Donna can never remember her travels with the Doctor, or the self-worth she found across the universe, but she’s still one of the most important people in the universe.
PLANET OF ORIGIN: Earth
DOCTOR: Eleventh, Twelfth
When we first met Clara, she seemed to be the most intriguing companion yet. After all, we knew she'd end up travelling with the Doctor, but in the meantime, what was she doing as a Dalek? Or as a governess in Victorian London? Clara is the Impossible Girl, the Souffle Girl. Thus far in her travels, she’s the only companion we’ve seen keeping up a life on Earth in tandem with her travels with the Doctor, whether that’s being a nanny or a teacher. She sacrificed herself in order to save the Doctor throughout time, travelled through the time vortex on the outside of the TARDIS (without Captain Jack’s immortality to protect her) and has met more incarnations of the Doctor than almost any other companion. Her entire life purpose is to save the Doctor.
It's the battle of the Nu!Who companions!
