Fans of HBO Home Entertainment and media streaming rejoice! You’re about to get a double-bill of digital delights. The folks over at the Thrones factory announce that not one, but two of their sensational new shows are coming to streaming services near you! By Matthew Battles As photos from the filming of the Doctor Who Christmas Special emerge online, fans can finally relax as we're given official confirmation that the hair - the signature Matt Smith hair - will be firmly in place for The Eleventh Doctor's final appearance. By Matthew Battles It's finally here! The news Doctor Who fans all around the globe have been waiting for! The BBC have announced that the 75-minute special episode; The Day of The Doctor (which will also be Matt Smith's penultimate episode playing the ancient timelord) will not be the only Doctor Who related program on the horizon. The Day of The Doctor is set to star Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, David Tennant and Billie Piper as The Eleventh Doctor, Clara, The Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler respectably and will finally unravel the mystery behind the shocking season seven finale and the reveal of a previously unknown incarnation of our favourite Doctor, played by John Hurt. Sharp eyed viewers will notice that the Bad Wolf could once again be rearing its head. This can only spell trouble for our favourite Doctors... By Matthew Battles Everything that was said last week... I take it all back. The finale train has stalled and our ‘neat monster’ of old has returned, yet again, to his sloppy ways - leaving many fans astounded that the whole of Miami Metro hasn’t worked out his secret life. With just two episodes - ever - to go, the show should be on fire. Dexter, boxed in on all corners. Every member of Miami Metro closing in on his secret, the FBI preparing to pounce and a serial killer on the prowl... Instead we’re forced to watch as Dexter, who just a few weeks earlier was so desperate to have his sister Deborah back in his life, prepares to abandon his life and jet off to Argentina with son and Serial-killing girlfriend, Hannah McKay, leaving Deb behind. Have I mentioned that Hannah tried to kill Deborah? It’s agonizing to see a much-loved show, which had all the potential to go down in a blaze of glory, limping towards the finish line with a weak final chapter. The fact that Dexter and Hannah’s plans might be derailed by a simple treadmill - more on this later - gives more credence to the idea that, as a show, Dexter truly has run it’s course.. By Matthew Battles Dexter fans rejoice! The finale train finally seems to have left the station and is picking up wind. After a slow and somewhat rocky start; dealing with the emotional wreckage of Debra’s shooting of Captain Laguerta (Lauren Velez) to save her brother Dexter (Michael C Hall) last season, and establishing the final storyline for our slaying siblings; Dr Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) a psychologist with a few psychotic tendencies of her own, a killer with a penchant for removing brains, an apprentice serial killer for Dexter to train up and the return of dear Dexter’s dull, but demented dalliance Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski) the show finally appears to have gotten back into it’s stride. By Matthew Battles Fourteen years ago, an Australian TV show boldly went where few program's had before; through a wormhole and into a distant part of the universe. Exploding into the midst of an all-out space battle, John Crichton - played by Ben Browder - instantly made enemies by accidentally killing the brother of a fleet commander. Chased across the galaxy, Crichton - who's brain has secretly been filled with the dangerous secret of wormhole control - must quickly adapt to this new way of life on the run, taking refuge on Moya, a living ship full of escaped criminals. By Matthew Battles Our final story begins in a repair shop, and a warning alarm’s going off. The two men stop their work to investigate. Someone’s stealing a TARDIS. They’re confused. What kind of idiot would steal a faulty TARDIS? Pull back. That’s right! We’re on Gallifrey, long before the Time War and at the very beginning of The Doctor’s journey. The First Doctor and Susan are sneaking aboard a TARDIS. A girl’s voice makes the old man turn. It’s Clara and she’s here to warn him. The Time Lord is about to make a very big mistake... By Matthew Battles Clara, the girl who has died twice and met the Doctor thrice. The mystery “squeezed into an enigma wrapped in a skirt that’s just a little bit too... tight.” You’ve had Whovians up and down the nation, and across the Pond (too soon?) all asking the same question as our favorite Timelord; “What are you?” With the finale of season 7 just a single sleep away, it won’t be long before the mystery is solved and we’ll finally know, but just what are the possibilities? With Steven Moffat at the helm they’re seemingly infinite but we’ve got some theories. From the perfectly plausible and most likely, to the outright outlandish, we’ve laid them out for your perusal. By Matthew Battles Yeah, OK, I know I’m a moron. As soon as I headed over to imdb to check the title of the next episode I realized my mistake... This is the penultima installment of the seventh season! So no two-parters for us this year! I just wish I had kept my brain in gear before last weeks review went live. Ah well! Never mind - on with this weeks episode! We seem to be on the moon overlooking the Earth as Sexy materializes in. The doors open and one, two... Three and four faces peek around the edge. That’s right, Clara caves into blackmail! The time-traveling Nanny (that premise alone has spin off material written all over it doesn’t it?) has brought the kids along on their own timey-wimey adventure. By Matthew Battles It’s 1893 and we’re in Yorkshire. Home to terriers, puddings, tea and... well, me actually! A pair of lovers are saying a passionate farewell. The man saying that “someone has to get to the bottom of this dark and queer business,” and, if he’s not back in an hour, that his love must call the police. Then he’s gone through a door that’s oddly out of place, what with the glowing red light behind it. |
