Well, that was a dramatic end to the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. What an absolutely amazing season it has been. I could try and write a synopsis for all of the madness that has occurred over the past 22 episodes, but that would be boring. Plus that isn’t the point of this article. Let’s just say; The two part season finale is pretty much the definition of this season. Action fuelled, arse-kicking awesomeness!

The interesting thing that hasn’t been quite addressed is the time travel aspect of Claire’s journey. Sure, we’ve dealt with the clash of personalities as she struggles to come to terms with the layout of Scotland in the 1700s. But we’ve never really sat down and thought, “Oh yeah, she’s gone back in time. Erm, how?” And more importantly, we’ve completely forgotten about Frank. The reason this is interesting is that, back in her post-war life, Frank is looking for his wife. Does this mean they are going sideways in time, just hundreds of years between them? Why? Couldn’t the stones just take her back to the day she left? Then Frank needn’t look for her at all.

Looks like the cat’s finally out of the bag (or, is that brains out of the bag?). Either way, Liv’s finally discovered what Blaine’s up to. As our hero, she was always going to step in and do something about it, and after Blaine’s actions in this episode, that’s a call to action if ever there was one.

Community has thrown another uninspired episode into the ring, trying to do battle with last week’s powerhouse only to trip on its own untied shoelace and knock itself out before the first punch was thrown. Ordinarily, there would be some saving grace for the show, but it ultimately felt like the writers were phoning this one in.

FINALLY!! After weeks of lacklustre episodes the events of the two hour finale special were a fantastic return to form. Heroes and villains are pitted against each other as never before when the Author throws a curveball, and Henry is pushed forward to save the day. The show has proven it has a flair for grandeur when it counts and with a fifth season on the horizon, the possibilities seem endless! Welcome back ONCE – where have you been?

Atlantis this week is all about the parental relationships, appropriately enough for an episode entitled “Kin”. While Icarus keeps on digging himself a betrayal hole trying to keep his father alive, Jason’s getting fought over by Aeson and Pasiphae. It’s Atlantis coming down firmly on the nature side of the nature vs nurture debate; it doesn’t matter what kind of upbringing Jason’s had, what matters is whether he follows his mother into darkness or his father back out into the light.

It’s certainly been a time of transition on Game of Thrones as of late. So far this season the key focus seems to be on mixing up all the characters together and letting them see how they all get on. It’s been fun seeing Stannis party on down with Jon Snow while we fear for the safety of Lady Sansa and look forward to Tyrion’s meeting with Daenerys, but we’ve had a few episodes of this now and quite frankly, nothing is really happening.

Orange is the New Black is one of the most talked about TV series on the planet. It has received universal critical acclaim and has won many awards. And if you haven’t heard about it, here’s the rundown: This Netflix original follows the life of Litchfield Prison, where Piper has been incarcerated for transporting a suitcase full of drugs money for her ex-girlfriend Alex. In prison she is reunited with Alex and the series follows their ups and downs, as well as the lives of their inmates with hilarious comedy and brilliant drama. Starring Taylor Schilling, Kate Mulgrew and Laura Prepon, the third series is quickly approaching and we can't wait to get locked up for the ladies after seeing this brand new trailer!

Back in 1988, the end arrived. Or at least “The End” aired, first episode of sci-fi comedy show Red Dwarf. Over the following 11 years, eight series of the show aired on the BBC, parodying science fiction conventions and films. Ten years later, the boys from the Dwarf returned for “Back to Earth” for Dave, followed by series ten in 2012. Now, 27 years after the human race was reduced down to human slime Lister, he’s back along with hologram Rimmer, the Cat and android Kryten for two more series, to be broadcast on Dave in 2016 and 2017. But just how many science fiction tropes have they got left to mine? Let’s take a quick look at some they’ve already managed to cover... |
