The Muppets is hands down one of the greatest family franchises ever. You’d have to have hand up your arse to not enjoy them (Or maybe that would help? I feel a social experiment coming on...). Those wonderful creatures created by Jim Henson came back to the big screen in 2011 with their outstanding new film, and have since had a sequel. Now they’re returning to their roots by making a new TV show, but it’s not quite what we’re used to.
This new series offers an ‘adult’ perspective of the Muppets; it uses a documentary style, reminiscent of shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation, to follow The Muppets in their daily routines of making a new ABC show. It tackles more every day, real life issues, such as Kermit getting stuck in traffic and Fozzie’s girlfriend having to face her parents about dating a bear.
Okay, maybe not THAT every day, but you know what I mean.
It’s certainly an interesting format, and could prove hilarious. However, does this mean we won’t have any musical numbers? They are a big part of The Muppets and could be kind of hard to do in documentary style. Nonetheless, The Muppets looks to be one of the best shows coming this fall.
