He’s here! He’s finally here! After a year of anticipation, excitement and extreme curiosity, Peter Capaldi’s first steps as the 12th Doctor are finally here… and boy, was he something different! Dazed, confused and coughed up by a dinosaur, Deep Breath saw the 12th Doctor reunited with the Paternoster Gang in Victorian London. Unsure of his new persona, he’s flung, headlong, into a mysterious case involving spontaneous human combustion and a creepy man with half a face. Darker, more sinister but still as fun as ever, this was Doctor Who as it should be!

Darker, more sinister but still as fun as ever, this was Doctor Who as it should be! by William John Fun, enigmatic, an ancient man trapped in a young body, the 11th Doctor was, for me, the epitome of what the Doctor should be. The perfect balance of charm and humanity whilst remaining undeniably alien, Matt Smith’s performance as our favourite Timelord was exciting, haunting and, most of all, amazing! Stepping into the fold over arguably the most popular Doctor ever, it’s surprising to think, looking back, that so many people had such little faith in the youngest ever actor to play the Doctor, and I’m not afraid to say I was one of them… Until his first scene, that is - by Xavier Gonne and William John Should there be a female Doctor? It's a question that has divided Doctor Who fans for decades. Are we ready for a female Doctor? Is it finally time for woman's touch in the TARDIS? The 12th Doctor might be exploding onto our screens today, but before Peter Capaldi was cast, there was a LOT of speculation that the BBC had decided to make a very big change to our titular hero. Today, Xavier Gonne and William John find themselves in ether side of the battle. Who's side so you fall on? by William John Easily the most polarising Doctor, Colin Baker had the toughest time as the titular hero. During a time of scrutiny from those at the top of the BBC (we’re looking at you, Michael Grade!), the shows producers decided to take a bold, if futile step away from the wacky, heroic Timelord we were used to, by making the sixth Doctor a far darker, angrier and more ferocious character. Despite portraying one of the most compelling incarnations of the Doctor, Baker’s time was cut short when the show was unceremoniously, indefinitely cancelled and he himself fired. by the I'm With Geek Team The Box Set is I’m With Geek’s attempt to encourage more people to watch a TV series that they may have missed the first time round, then discuss how it made them feel. Happy? Sad? Filled with impotent rage? Who knows… by William John So the legendary nine-year sitcom has finally come to an ending, and there’s just one thing to say about it… WHAT THE FUCK!? OK, I’ll start again, a little more balanced. The How I Met Your Mother series finale was littered with dozens of touching, tear-worthy moments, unfortunately interspersed with random, unnecessary twists designed specifically to shoehorn in a relationship that has never worked. by William John When I first heard about Elementary, CBS' own modern day Sherlock Holmes crime drama, I was, to say the least, rather uninterested. Great, they're jumping on the band wagon and doing their own version... who cares? Then Lucy Liu was cast as JOAN Watson and my disinterest turned to disgust - How dare they cast Watson as a woman?! Despite my best interests, I sat down and watched the pilot whilst in America. Oh how wrong I was! By Hayley Charlesworth and Heather Stromski, with contribution by Jenny Mullinder and William John As Black Books’ Fran Katzenjammer once put it, “Sex! Sexy sex!” Unless you’re Jesus - in which case, this article probably isn’t for you! - it’s likely the reason why you’re here. Television, from raunchy HBO dramas to the cheesiest soap operas, is full of sex. Continuing on from our post on great sex scenes from cinema, today I’m With Geek shares with you ten fabulously raunchy romps of the small screen. In no particular order, let’s get it on: By William John You know you're a fan of something when, on a day like today, with such a huge, game changing announcement closing in, you find yourself unable to focus on anything else. All day long I've been checking on the latest rumours, watching the latest betting odds and generally discussing the casting of the 12th Doctor with anybody who'll listen. I've gone through the panic when Aneruin Barnard shot to the top. I watched with apprehension as Peter Capaldi, a personal favourite, and Daniel Rigby danced for the favours of bookmakers. I settled down to watch the live reveal with however many millions around the world and shuffled to the edge of my seat as Zoe Ball stepped forward to unveil to new Time Lord. My heart was beating, my palms sweating, adrenaline rushing through my veins. Were the BBC about to make a fantastic announcement of a huge mistake? And then this happened: By William John It's finally here, the moment we've all been waiting for! It's taken 50 years but the answer to the oldest question is mere hours away... Doctor Who? Not to mention the identity of the impossible girl, twice dead... tonight is going to be something really special! "Clara is summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him toward the one place in all of time and space that he should never go. It’s a deadly trap that threatens to unravel his past, present and future…" What's your theory on the mystery of Clara Oswald? Take a look at our theories here and check out the prequel, trailers and preview clips below. Head back after the episode for our in depth review! |
