It’s that time of week again – the double dose of teenage Wolfbloods up in the north east, and continuing on with last week’s theme of Jana asserting her Alpha dominance, this week it was still all about packs, romance and what it means when your role and family is taken away from you.
That’s why it’s so disappointing that the relationship only lasts two episodes. Just why is Kay so quick to be jealous of Jana, when she has no problem with supposed ex-girlfriend Shannon? It would have been nice to see the jealousy building over at least one more episode, to see whether or not Kay would have been more suspicious of Jana and Rhydian when remembering the werewolf rumours. The only thing the relationship seems to offer viewers now is the prospect of Tom becoming the focus of a Three K revenge.
By using the Three Ks as a comparison to the core pack, these episodes continue the theme of defining your pack. Whether that’s Jana trying to adapt to her new role as Alpha without a pack, Kay questioning if her relationship means no longer being part of her friendship group, or Tom and Shannon proving that there’s things human members of a pack can do that Wolfblood members can’t, Wolfblood continues to prove that it’s more about the family you choose than the one you’re born into (seriously, do Tom and Shannon’s parents never worry about where their children are on a school night?).
