Now, if you had told us about a year ago we’d be getting goosebumps over a teaser that stars Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch, we’d have laughed the facial hair right off of our faces. Which is probably what we did, because it looks like it collected on Colin Farrell’s face, staring at us menacingly like, “Yeah, fuck the McConaissance.”

True Detective is holding a lot of the plot close to its chest, but now we have a teaser for the second series that sees Rachel McAdams and the aforementioned actors battle crimes across LA County, a stark difference from the sleepy series of season one. Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a detective compromised and under scrutiny when he investigates criminal and entrepreneur Frank Semyon (Vaughn). All the while McAdams is Sheriff Ani Bezzerides and Kitsch is a war veteran and motorcycle cop who discovers a crime to bring them all together.
It may seem complex as you wonder how they’ll thread each storyline together. But there is something about this trailer that makes us terribly excited. The mood has been set to reach the high bar of season one and with a moustache game THAT strong, we’re optimistic.
