Fans of The Mortal Instruments books were, for the most part, disappointed with the film, with the remaining feeling disenfranchised with the whole affair. So, when it was announced that a TV show would give the series a chance at redemption, a great sigh of relief was heard around the internet. Then the cast announcements gradually trickled out and for the most part, they felt pretty spot on. The excitement for the show is practically at its peak. And then came the announcement that the studio were about to release the first teaser of the show.

And boy, was teaser the right word for that. A ten second clip, with dramatic music building up. There’s a close up on something, the camera zooms out and spins, causing a little motion sickness. The further out it is, the easier it is to realise that we’re looking at the title screen. It looks pretty cool; appropriate font and even gives the year it will be announced. And that’s the end of teaser one. Are you kidding me!?
But wait, there’s a second teaser? Fantastic, so they were just messing with us. Kat McNamara, who will play Clary Fray, speaks to the camera amidst mysterious pictures of the set and the cast goofing around on camera.
ABC Family: I love you. You air some of my all time favourite shows, which is why I was so excited when I heard that you had picked up Shadowhunters. But ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You get us hyped up about these teasers and this is what you give us?
To be fair, the show has only recently started to release some stills, but fans had their hearts on seeing some action, so we can get a flavour of what the show will be like. We want it to be long lasting, somewhat faithful to the books, better than the film, and for it be worth investing our time in!
Hopefully the next teaser will give something to entice viewers in, and show a bit more action.
