With Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man heading to cinemas this year, our excitement can hardly be contained. But what do we do in the agonising months before the big releases? Well, it’s time to turn our attentions to the small screen!
On top of the fantastic Agent Carter and the equally brilliant Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel have recently released their first trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil, the first of four Netflix original series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Played by Charlie Cox, the trailer sees Matt Murdock confessing his sins and questioning his own morality. The shadowy figures and criminal overlords that Murdock will have to rise up to face are plentiful in this trailer with a possible first sighting of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. As he masks his face to become the titular Daredevil, it’s clear that this television series is not for the faint-hearted.

The trailer for the show seems a lot darker in comparison to Marvel’s other televisual fare, a suggestion backed up by Cox himself saying that Daredevil will be darker than previous films and TV series. The lack of Daredevil’s iconic red suit is an interesting addition, but will almost certainly make itself known before the end of the series, and may even be an intentional choice to stay as far away from the Ben Affleck movie as possible.
Marvel’s Daredevil is certainly shaping up to be an exciting series, with plenty of dark brooding moments befitting of Hell’s Kitchen. There’s no mention if we’ll get to see any of the other three characters who are getting the Netflix treatment, but there’s still plenty of time before April 10th for more announcements.
