With Ridley Scott acting as the Executive Producer and based on the book by Martin O’Reilly, the miniseries will run through Jesus’ life, telling the political, social and historical conflicts that eventually led to his demise upon the cross.
The miniseries also boasts a wonderful cast, with Kelsey Grammer playing King Herod the Great, and John Rhys-Davies portraying Annas. The role of the “Saviour of Mankind” will be played by Haaz Sleiman, best known for his role in The Visitor. The casting of Sleiman caused a minor stir, Sleiman is Muslim, however, much like Jesus preached, the actor and production turned the other cheek to these complaints.
The trailer itself shows highlights of Bible scenes from the New Testament, such as Jesus throwing the Money Lenders from the temple and his meeting with John the Baptist. With a title like Killing Jesus, one assumes that him getting crucified will also be covered.
The miniseries will air on March 29th, which is, rather fittingly, Palm Sunday.
