True Detective is back on our screens, albeit, sans McConaughey and Harrelson. Instead we have Colin Farell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn. To celebrate the new season, it’s about damn time we had a look at the mesmerising titles that started every episode of Season One.
Watching a new show can be tricky, because you just don’t know what to expect. These titles set up the show perfectly; it’s very reflective of the dark, brooding tone of the show, and the consistently dark colour palette that accompanies every scene. Furthermore, Far From Any Road, with its deep voiced singer and eerie lyrics, really illustrates the sense of dread that accompanies every episode.
Season Two will almost definitely have different titles, considering the original cast are no longer present, but how much will change? Hopefully the song will remain and we’ll get some new beautiful imagery, but as it stands, True Detective has one of the most immediately captivating title sequences on TV.
