The new Sherlock trailer makes everything look very promising. As we all know, Sherlock Holmes is back after two years of being “dead.” He thwarted Moriarty’s plans but unfortunately, had to keep his lack of deceased-ness from his best friend John Watson. Watson has since moved on, grown a lovely mustache and found solace in the loving arms of Mary Morstan. But a terror alert and attack are afoot in London and the capitol city is calling out for their super sleuth consulting detective. Sherlock must return again but can he adjust now that the world he once knew has all changed.
In this trailer, it seems Sherlock is just as sarcastic and brilliant as ever, confiding in his older brother about his return. While it seems the attack and the crimes are kept a big secret, there is still lovely little snippets of Holmes in and out of London (including a motorbike chase scene that looks incredible already.) Of course, the main focus of the first episode is the reunion of Watson and Holmes (and Watson’s mustache.) After all, Watson has spent a large majority of his time getting over the death of Holmes only for him to pop back up in his life like a fairy. He also has a new person in his life, Mary, who is Watson’s wife from the original cannon. It hints at the wickedly wrought and tension filled relationship that they will all have to navigate.
More importantly, we all get to answer that massive question; how did he do it? How exactly did Sherlock fall off a hospital roof and survive? There was a person who mattered the most in this whole charade, but who? Molly? Mycroft? The gang behind the phenomenal television series is giving us a taste but not the whole cake (that hopefully, Sherlock will pop out of singing “surprise, not dead.”)
With old favourites back and new talented faces added to the roster, the third series of the popular television series is coming back with a bang. Head over to the BBC website for all the interactive glory where “hotspots” reveal hidden clips and pictures.
And with this juicy trailer, I think we all reacted like Mrs. Hudson; screaming in our marigolds.
