The Walking Dead has the best promos on UK TV. Honestly, it does. The promo for this season finale took clips of ordinary, non-dangerous scenes, and turned them into a scary as hell promo. Not to mention they didn’t include any footage past the first 20 minutes of the episode. It did exactly what a promo should do, and we weren’t disappointed witnessing this mesmerising season finale.
As we’ve been speculating for weeks, Terminus is a deadly place. The four arrive, and are greeted warmly, however things turn sour when Rick spots Glenn’s watch in the pocket of a Terminus staff member, and before long they’re running for their lives as snipers try to shoot them down. As it has been doing recently, the show created another moment of genuine fear when, even for the shortest time, the possibility of Carl dying was a big one. A lot of people don’t like Carl, but none of us want him dead. Especially now he truly understands the lengths his father will go to for him.
The show got even more emotional as we witnessed flashbacks of Hershel (A welcome return of Scott Wilson) teaching Rick and Carl how to farm, showing the father-son relationship the pair always should’ve had, and what it is now.
Overall, Season four has been excellent. Not perfect, suffering some dull episodes as the show does, but it’s remained a lot more consistent than Season three, and delivered a more satisfying finale. Highlights for this season include the life ruining mid season finale Too Far Gone and The Grove, the harrowing episode from a few weeks ago. Not to mention the fifth episode, because nothing says good TV like a man and his son gunning down zombies.
Rick, Carl, Michonne, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Abraham, Tara, Eugene and Rosita are all trapped in a train cart in Terminus. Things seem hopeless now, but in seven months time, the inhabitants of Terminus are going to feel pretty stupid when they find out they’re screwing with the wrong people.
