This article will be covering both episodes fifteen and sixteen of The Originals. It’s a strong competitor in the ratings with The Vampire Diaries and is leading off with an impressive first season.

Farewell To Storyville sees the return of a couple of characters and also a few actors leaving the show. Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah are trapped in the cemetery after a spell cast by Celeste keeps them there and flashbacks of the Original family as children are narrated by the siblings as their rivalry comes to a blow.
Le Grand Guignol was more an episode leading up to Farewell To Storyville and so nothing highly significant happened. This made the episode boring to watch until the pieces were put together. Hayley’s family is an interesting story arc, though unfortunately that’s only a side story. Hayley needs to have her baby, and soon, to help the story progress as it has been stuck at a standstill recently with the Mikaelson feud taking up the majority of air time. The one thing that really stood out was literally the last few seconds of the show when, after three seasons of The Vampire Diaries and half a season of The Originals, Elijah’s vampire face is finally shown! This has been a huge event for fans of the show who realised he had never shown his fangs before and started bombarding Julie Plec with questions over the strange phenomenon.

The setting this week was mostly the cemetery in which the Original family are trapped. The flashbacks to when they were children were some of the best scenes of their history; it was heart-warming to see them as humans with their love and high regard for each other; what happened!? The children were adorable and the kid who plays young Klaus could give Joseph Morgan a run for his money; what an actor! The scenes were beautiful, filmed in the forest and the costumes time and place appropriate, unlike the clothing in some of their other flashbacks to their human time.
The one thing that will stick in everyone minds in the departure of lead actress, Claire Holt, who plays Rebekah Mikaelson. No one expected her to leave the show and fans are in an uproar. It was a bittersweet exit for her.

Rebekah leaving could throw a spanner into the works and it seems likely that this will happen. There will be no more storylines revolving around family betrayal and wanting revenge, thankfully. They had grown stale and predictable. The witches are gaining more power and taking over New Orleans. The show had a series of episodes where it was advancing quickly but it seems to have slowed down now and is revisiting the previous arcs, rather than come up with new ones.
