Previously on The Originals we have found out about the civil war between the witches and Davina. We see that Marcel is like a guardian angel to Davina and wants Klaus gone. Rebekah is sick of her family’s structure and tries to leave. Finally, a pregnant Hayley is finally unlinked from voodoo doll Sophie and has been kidnapped. The pilots were disappointing but each episode gets better and episode 7 follows this trend. We will also a see the first crossover from The Vampire Diaries in this episode which is very exciting and seems like it will bring about a lot of positive changes to the show.

Hayley is shown tied up in the back of a truck. The driver stops the truck and the first crossover character is revealed: Tyler!
As a show of faith, Marcel allows the witch, Sabine, to cast a locator spell to aid Klaus and Marcel in their search for Hayley. Meanwhile, Tyler has taken Hayley to a cabin by a lake. He’s discovered that her family were important within the werewolf world but the vampires exiled them and so this is all that is left of them. He is also aware of her pregnancy to his nemesis. Tyler has either lost or given up everything on his feud with Klaus, so I don’t suppose he values his friendship with Hayley enough to help her out here.
Sabine manages to find Hayley’s position using a spell which looks very similar to the one Bonnie used to find Elena in season two of the parent series. Marcel approaches Josh, Klaus’ vampire spy, and shows just how much he knows. Josh tries to run but is surrounded.
Klaus comes across Tyler’s abandoned truck and recognises his scent. He puts two and two together and realises that Tyler was the kidnapper. He accuses Elijah of having feelings for Hayley, hence why he has been trying to take charge and acting more badass than usual. Marcel brings Josh to Davina, asking her to wipe his mind of Klaus’ compulsion; otherwise he will have no other choice than to kill Josh. This way, he could use him as his own spy. Marcel’s character development is coming along really well and I really love him as a character, with his Jekyll and Hyde personality which really comes through when Klaus is around.

Tyler tells Hayley that he wants to test the baby’s blood, which she presently shares with it. He believes that it will have the ability to create hybrids, which Klaus is lacking at the moment. With these hybrids, he could dispose of Marcel and take over New Orleans; Dwayne is just the guinea pig. Dwayne awakens and Tyler cuts Hayley for Dwayne to drink from. His transition to a hybrid is complete and successful.

Tyler is about to attack Hayley when Dwayne jumps him, demanding he stay away from Hayley. She manipulates him and takes the chance to escape, while Tyler tears out Dwayne’s heart. Elijah finds Hayley hiding in the woods. Klaus sneaks up on Tyler. They both use Caroline as a threat to the other and Tyler runs.
Marcel shows Rebekah a plan of a house he had designed for the two of them to inhabit together before she left him to run away with Klaus. Marcel gives her a choice: Stay with a man who loves her and will do anything for her, or go to a manipulative and selfish brother. She obviously wants to choose Marcel but fears for his life if Klaus found out. Marcel, though, has been searching for ways to dispose of Klaus.
Hayley fills Elijah in about what was said by Tyler and thinks that Dwayne was sired to her. After a passionate battle between Klaus and Tyler, Tyler is staked, very close to his heart, momentarily leading me to believe that this was the end of a beloved character! Klaus realised that Tyler will suffer more by staying alive and hating Klaus so he compels him to go away.

Elijah and Hayley are suspicious of Klaus, who claims to have had no knowledge of about the aspects of his baby’s blood. He feels betrayed and alone at how quickly his family were to condemn him that he gives Elijah the gift of a werewolf bite.
Davina finishes cleansing Josh’s mind. Marcel wanted to forget about her, but they both bonded and are friends and so she decides to trust him. Hayley finds a book outside the door of the cabin which contains a family tree. Looking at the information, she deduces that her real name could be Andrea.
Rebekah returns home to the plantation where Klaus feels like Hayley is turning Elijah against him. He begins plotting to use an indignant Rebekah against Marcel. Rebekah doesn’t understand why she should help Klaus and he once again uses the family card. She tells him Marcel is not conspiring against him and thinks it’s a school yard spat. Tyler is trying to make a deal with Marcel and to prove his worth, explains how Hayley is pregnant with Klaus’ baby and that this will be the end of the vampire species if it is born.

1) He’s seen to still have humanity in him. We now understand his grievances with the witches and he manages to mostly balance a world where humans and vampires can live together, albeit with some issues here and there. I can’t see Klaus’ world being any calmer.
2) Marcel’s relationship with Davina and her devotion to him!
3) Klaus and Caroline should be together and that seems unlikely if he is to overthrow Marcel as he would not wish to leave New Orleans again in case of a repeat of what has already occurred.
4) Too many vampires are loyal to Marcel
5) Klaus only looks after himself. There’s no reason the vampires loyal to Marcel couldn’t just leave town if Klaus took over.
Feel free to disagree with me; this is just how I feel after this most recent episode.
I don’t like what’s happening with Tyler. He’s a totally different character now. He’s lost his mind entirely! I completely empathise with him but there was no reason for him to leave Caroline so he could chase after Klaus. That just hurts Caroline and leaves the way open for his nemesis. He clearly didn’t care enough about her to just be happy; he needs revenge. He's in a very dark place.
Klaus had no right to get upset at Elijah and Hayley for not trusting him. He’s a huge hypocrite who seems to have forgotten everything he has done to them in the past to cause such paranoia, yet if they do one little thing against him, he bites them or stabs them. Much as I love you, you need to grow up, Klaus.
This miracle baby is getting more interesting all the time. Its blood has similar properties to its father already? I am curious as to what will happen with this child. Will it even survive if it’s rumoured, or rather prophesised, to cause the destruction of the vampire race? There is also the issue of aging within the show and will it have any vampire properties from its fraternal side? I personally think Hayley is likely to die in childbirth. She was introduced into the Vampire Diaries to get pregnant by Klaus. Once the baby is born, her sole purpose of being is complete. I do hope she stays though. Phoebe Tonkin is a great actress and also, it looks like Elijah may have moved on from Katherine to a less psychotic character.
