When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, there was probably not as much wailing as you might think. After all, nothing could be worse than Phantom Menace (don’t let us down, JJ!) and the House of Mouse have shown they’re pretty good at staying hands-off with their newly acquired properties, as seen with Marvel. But there’s one more glorious consequence of the merger, before we get the new animated series Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars Episode VII (The one with Han’s broken ankle). The Phineas and Ferb Star Wars crossover episode has just been given the American airdate of July 26th.
Phineas and Ferb are living happily on Tatooine, just one moisture farm over from Luke Skywalker. They find themselves thrust into a global rebellion when the plans for blowing up the Death Star accidentally fall into their hands. They must go in search of a pilot who can take them to the Rebels so they can hand over the plans.
Meanwhile, Dr. Darth Enshmirtz has created a Force-powered "Sith-inator." Agent P, working undercover for the Rebellion, is dispatched to stop him, but gets trapped in carbonite. Things take a startling turn when Ferb is hit by the full blast of Dr. Darth Enschmirtz's "inator" and becomes... an evil Sith.
If you haven’t watched Phineas and Ferb before, but like your Star Wars, don’t miss out on this. Phineas and Ferb is jam-packed full of songs, baffling inventions and a secret agent platypus, and they've already had a Marvel crossover episode. The Star Wars episode promises to be just as exciting and hilarious.
