The British Comedy industry is definitely going to be mourning the loss of the wonderfully talented Roger Lloyd-Pack, who passed away due to pancreatic cancer age 69.
While also appearing on his long stint of Only Fools and Horses, he also lent his talent to the very popular and exceptionally funny Vicar of Dibley as Owen Newitt. While Roger Lloyd-Pack did play both characters of Trigger and Owen similarly in terms of the characters innocence, Owen was definitely more perverted, seedy and just a man who had no filter in whatever he was thinking and saying. It’s these characters which are so memorable, and have produced so many classic scenes, that no matter how many times you watch them, you laugh until your stomach starts to hurt.
While he was known best for his two roles of Owen and Trigger, he had several parts in films such as Harry Potter, Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, and a small role in Interview with the Vampire as the piano teacher that was killed by a very young Kirsten Dunst. While this is tremendously sad that we have lost a talented actor, we should definitely embrace his life and how he chose to live it and how he breathed so much energy into every single one of the characters he portrayed, no matter how small.
