In a wondrous announcement last Friday, the King of surreal filmmaking, David Lynch, is returning to helm the third season of cult television series Twin Peaks.
Following the announcement that the show would return in 2016 on America’s Showtime Network, Lynch had proclaimed that he would not be returning due to there not being enough money for him to take part/ available. Fortunately, this is now no longer the case as Showtime have extended the initial nine episodes to an unknown number, and all of them will be directed by Lynch himself. He will be joined by a number of the original cast, including Kyle MacLachlan who plays the enigmatic FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper.
The new season will continue 25 years after the eventful finale of the second season, which originally aired between September 1990 and June 1991. Hopefully we will start seeing some answers to the numerous mysteries that remain unanswered. If nothing else, let’s hope for some new ones to sink our teeth into over a damn fine cup of coffee!
