This is how I always saw them to be and why they terrify me so much. It’s not some glorified, romanticised situation like many people seem to think; it is deadly and every man for himself.

This is how I always saw them to be and why they terrify me so much. It’s not some glorified, romanticised situation like many people seem to think; it is deadly and every man for himself.
In day four, the survivors undertook new missions to help them survive the remaining three days until the army arrive to rescue them. First, two new survivors appeared and they had to lock themselves in a cage that was surrounded by zombies. One had to use a phone (which are dangerous devices since it was the 5G that caused the outbreak) while the other ran to base for help. Meanwhile, two survivors from base must go to a vending machine and buy the antibiotics for Nic, who is still trapped in the cage. While looking for food, two of the team mates must pretend to be dead after a swarm of zombies enter the room they are foraging in. Finally, after a day packed full of dangerous missions and close calls, a third new survivor must be rescued, though not all is what it seems with this new person…
Day five is even more perilous and full of edge-of-your-seat action. There are three days left to survive until rescue but sadly, not all will make it out. First is a mission to retrieve provisions while the newest member of the team returns to the caravan she was hiding in to recover her backpack that she had left in panic the previous day. Next is another water run (very exciting) but with a twist: the water has run dry and the valve needs turning on across the site. This involves a pitch black room, security cameras, walkie talkies and zombies… Finally, after the previous heart-stopping mission comes an added dose of terror and petrifying task for the team, the ENTIRE team. This is the first group mission. They are to go forage for food again like they did previously. However, on the way they are met with a group of newly turned zombies, who are faster and more aggressive than older zombies, and they get trapped in a car.

The audience were finally shown what happens when an infected individual succumbs to the illness. The symptoms were showcased alongside the mutation, just proving that there was at least one actor on the show. Everyone is going to be on the lookout for these symptoms now within the group which could cause some animosity. The reactions over the deaths are odd as they grieve for some and laugh for others. Do they still remember that they’re not dead, just disqualified from the show? How does the show affect the contestants mentally?
