Homeland "A Red Wheelbarrow" (Spoilers!)

Hello folks! I’m back again with the latest Homeland review. But for once, I bring good news! I say each week that show is returning to former glory but never quite reaches it. Well this week my friends, satisfaction was found. Let’s get on with it!

Picture
Saul briefs the White House Chief of Staff on phase 2 of their mission: Moving Javadi further up the chain of command in Iran. Dar Adal alludes to a trip that Saul will be taking, but Carrie must not know about it. Meanwhile, silent wife Mira (Who is finally getting hold of her main cast credit) tells her boyfriend Alain that she wants to break things off in order to reconcile with Saul. Angry, he later sneaks into her home and bugs Saul’s computer.

Carrie goes to the doctors for the first time concerning her pregnancy, now 13 weeks along. She admits to heavy drinking and Lithium usage during pregnancy. Her doctor informs her that she has high blood pressure and will need to cut down on stress and hard work. Carrie claims that what she’s working on is directly linked to the father of the baby, and she needs to make things right.

Fara skips work for two days, and stays at home with her ill father, who believe that she works at the bank. Her cover is blown as someone comes to investigate why she hasn’t been in, and her father tells of the repercussions this could have should she be found out.

Picture
Based on what was told by Javadi, the CIA conduct a plan to flush out the real Langley bomber: Dar Adal tells Leland Bennett that the CIA are investigating into his affairs, and advises him to co-operate, but he refuses. This leads to Franklin, Bennett’s associate, meeting with Carrie (As they hoped) and asking for information on this investigation. She later comes back with false information stating that the CIA have a warrant out for the bomber and that they’ve connected him to Bennett. Franklin calls him to tell him this (As the CIA listen) and Bennett tells him to get the bomber out of the country. When the time comes, the CIA (In an operation lead by Dar Adal), follow Franklin to a motel, where Quinn takes rooftop with a sniper rifle and Carrie stakes out in her car, whilst everyone else hides in a van. Franklin calls the bomber, who is scared, and then prepares a gun before leaving. Despite orders not to leave her car, Carrie chases Franklin (Unbeknownst to him). Quinn is ordered by Dar Adal to shoot her in the arm, taking her out so she can’t interfere. Franklin kills the bomber and burns his body with acid. Whilst being rushed to hospital, she is furious to hear the bomber is dead and demands to know where Saul is.

Picture
Speaking of which, we see where Saul has gone for his trip: The Tower of David, which I’m sure you remember from near the start of the season. He hands El Nino $10 million dollars, before he’s taken up to a cell, where we see Brody, left in a catatonic state, surrounded by used needles.

Yes my friends.....Brody is back. Sure, we didn’t see a lot of him. But his is most certainly back. However, he’s not in the best shape. But more importantly, what does Saul want with him? How does Brody fit into his master plan? Very, very confusing stuff, but extremely interesting.

Picture
It seems Fara has quite a past on her, or so it would seem from her father. But what exactly? Never mind that though. The big issue here is the father of Carrie’s baby, who we do see her text (presumably). The obvious answer, going by “Make things right” is Brody, however, seeing him in the state he’s in, I can’t see him being able to text her. So that leaves two other possibilities: Drunk guy she had a one night stand with, or Quinn. Sad thing is, I doubt it’s either of them. Oh who knows, we’ll find out soon enough.

Overall, an absolutely fantastic episode. Honestly, it feels great saying that! And I can see we’re headed for brilliant things too. So, is Homeland about to return to the level of suspense and intensity it once had? I sure hope so.
