So, the big day is here – Monroe and Rosalee finally get their dream wedding and we reach the end of this inconsistent and rather dull season. And I like this show.
For an episode that revolves around Monroe and Rosalee’s wedding, their entire role in the episode can be summed up in a few sentences: Monroe’s dad makes peace with his son’s choices. Rosalee’s very ugly grandmother’s dress gets ruined and she mercifully gets a better wedding dress. And, um they actually do tie the knot and I cheered – I half expected them not to finish the ceremony.
Adalind flits around setting her plans in motion this episode, before it all comes crashing down. Truble happens to see Adalind morph into Juliet once her spell wears out, but felt relatively superfluous this episode. Her role could very well have been filled by Renard. Ultimately, Nick and Juliet this episode seems to float along, until the last part of the episode, just before the wedding when Juliet realises what Adalind did. She reverts into the tired trope of the woman wishing for normality while in a relationship with a super-powered guy. This sudden wish for normality is so out of the blue because the entire season has been focused on Juliet getting more comfortable with Nick’s world, and becoming part of it. It took an over the top event to bring this out in Juliet and it's disappointing the show’s simply wiped all her character development this season.
Renard gets shot by the Verrat FBI agent, Steward, who Truble promptly decapitates. But, he does manage to tell Truble exactly what’s going on and shows her the cure for Nick in one very clunky exposition scene before getting shot. She rushes to the wedding, manages to scare every Wesen there, who in turn swarm her and she drops the vial, shattering Nick’s cure. The wedding party rushes her to safety where she explains what happened.
One minor interesting development – Truble calls the cops before she rushes to the wedding to see Nick, and Wu comes, with the EMTs. He sees one of the Grimm books on Truble’s bed and immediately flashes to the Aswang, the Wesen in episode 14 of this season that focused on him, “Mommy Dearest”. He now knows that he’s not crazy.
