It’s a nice day for a red wedding, is it not?
And if you were one of the few absolutely shell-shocked, broken and amazed by Game of Thrones series three finale “The Red Wedding,” you’ll be wondering with so many questions. How did they do it? Why was it so soul destroying and a blood massacre? And more importantly, where is the cake?
Luckily, thanks to HBO Entertainment and ChoccyWoccyDooDah, guests at Tuesdays DVD release event at The Soho Hotel got a chance encounter with the Red Wedding Cake and boy, murder and bloodshed has never tasted so good.
The cake is loaded with Game of Thrones sickly sweet goodness. Made of a rum and raisin base, it is topped with white chocolate swords and a shield to signify the war between the House of Stark and the House of Frey. It took four of the team behind ChoccyWoccyDooDah twenty hours to create this masterpiece, a delicious chocolate castle. Luckily, we all managed to get a taste; appealing to our blood thirst and our sweet tooth
But more goodness was to come and arriving to meet the audience was Arya Stark herself, Maisie Williams. One of the youngest members of cast, Arya has a wrought and tense relationship with The Hound in Series Three which sees her witness the slaughter of her family and house. What’s new for Arya in the upcoming season four (only weeks away!?)
And what’s it like staring up at The Hound (played by the towering Rory McCann.)
“Well, I am only 5 ft,” she says giggling, “so life is always spent looking up.”
Enthusiastic about her role in Game of Thrones and utterly adorable too, Williams bids us all good well before the team in HBO treat us to the Blu-Ray behind the scenes footage. Let’s just say, fans of Game of Thrones are going to be in for a treat. The unmasking of Winter Fey and the set up to the bloodbath end of Series Three is brilliantly done. Intriguing filmmaking, excellent special effects and some actors how are truly passionate about the series and translating it to their fans.
With much anticipation of the new series, delight in re-capping over series three with the excellent DVD boxset which is out on Monday 17th of February.
