The finale of Galavant is here with new songs, cameos and lots of drama. It's been a relatively short season, with only eight episodes, but a lot happened in the space of those four hours.
While Galavant and his friends are all trapped in prison, they look for ways to escape and question each other’s’ characters. King Richard is having family issues and Madalena has her own agenda. Chef’s relationship is moving forward, but the real question is whether or not he can keep his head long enough to enjoy it.
The script is unrealistic, yet keeps one foot on the ground, some of the time. It’s sarcastic and witty, with a hint of exasperation. It shows that real life is not perfect as Galavant is oblivious and misses glaring obvious romantic moments to turn away and burst in to song.
While watching, keep your eyes open for Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumni, Anthony Stewart Head, who even gets to return his singing talents to television briefly while wearing a suit armour. Prince Harry is adorable and manages to break up a fight to the death with his confidence and cuteness. We should be seeing more of him, if things go to plan and we get a season two!
This entire season of Galavant has been amusing and had me looking forward each week to watching the next instalment. The finale was suitably funny, yet serious, with some of the best scenes yet. We learn a lot more about the characters and the cliffhanger is an evil albeit great twist.
All that is left to say is please give us a season two! You simply cannot finish a season like that and then abandon us with no closure.
