The stars of the small screen all took to the red carpet last night as one of the biggest television awards in the UK got underway. Under the sunny skies, peeking out in the unexpected chill of spring, the glamorous cast and crew of some of your greatest shows, series and one-off dramas took to the streets of London to celebrate their hard work.
At the Theatre Royal, nestled in the capital's famed Drury Lane, the BAFTA Television awards, hosted by Graham Norton, got underway and the list of winners were announced with whopping amounts of praise.

In the comedy categories, I’m With Geek favourites Matt Berry and Jessica Hynes were awarded the top acting awards for Toast of London and W1A (and there is a lot of talk about Hyne’s cut anti-Conservative speech too). The Detectorists won for the Best Scripted Comedy. Entertainment-wise, both Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Graham Norton were awarded the top prizes.
The other big winners included Sherlock - as voted for by an audience who similarly don’t understand that Sherlock should not have been included in this year’s awards - Coronation Street for Best Soap, and Jon Snow, given the BAFTA Fellowship award for his service to film and factual series. Jon Pop also scooped up a Special Award as did Clive James. All in all, it was a pretty predictable affair with no shock wins. But we’re pretty impressed with the winners.
