I’m happy to say that the latest episode has kept with the high quality of the previous. Perhaps now the quality of the episodes will stay steady from now on? Here’s hoping…

There were quite a few moments throughout the episode that actually made me laugh, instead of a quiet, awkward chuckle because things were too corny. There were also multiple moments of character-developments and soul searching, Fitz confronts Ward about his need to always be the hero, and that he is just as good a SHIELD agent as he is. Coulson manages to get the original file that Skye had previously discovered about her past, and tells her that she was dropped off at the orphanage by a female SHIELD agent. However when he gets back to his office May is sitting there reading the files, and it seems he did not tell Skye everything, and states that “some things should be left a secret.” We see a picture of someone lying dead on the ground, presumably Skye’s mother. Perhaps we will find out about her past later on in the series.

I think it’s good to get an equal balance between a great plot and character development, and that’s what this week’s episode does well. It proves that field agents and those that work in the labs such as Fitz and Simmons can be just as good as each other. Fitz proves himself after the whole “jumping out of the plane” fiasco of the last episode, and Skye comes one step closer to finding about her parents. But, now it’s not just the question of “What happened in Budapest?” for Marvel fans. Now it’s also “What happened in Tahiti?”
