Marvel often excel at expanding their cinematic universe, especially when it comes to crossing between the various teams. It allows them to develop the story of individual characters and help build the world that exists outside of the films.
Well, usually they are, this week seemed like a bit of a disappointment.

Well, usually they are, this week seemed like a bit of a disappointment.
Last week, we saw Reina have a vision about what was going to occur in Age of Ultron, getting many people excited, both for the film and this week’s episode of the show. After the fantastic episodes that tied in with Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the stakes were high. With both Reina’s premonition and the show’s history, there was plenty of opportunity for tantalising nods to the events of the film, and an update on what's happened to Nick Fury and the rest of the team.
Instead, the producers decided to focus on the relationship between the Inhumans and SHIELD, with the film being mentioned briefly at the beginning. Tensions are high between the two groups, and it all seems a bit too predictable. With each plot point that occurs, you know what is going to happen next, there isn't much action, save for one scene involving Bobbi and Agent 33, which was a let-down, feeling shoe-horned in to create a bit of variety.

On a the more positive side of things, Skye and May have a brilliant tense and emotional moment as Skye confronts her about Bahrain and reveals her mother’s identity, and the final scenes where Gonzalez meets with Jiayang adds to the tension, developing both their characters in new ways.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gained quite a reputation for being a high-quality show, so it seems such a shame for it to drop the ball just before the two-part season finale.
