God, wasn’t the last episode cruel? Cutting off mid shoot out? That was outrageous! Still, surely that’s the worst of it. I’m sure everything is ok now!
NOTHING IS OK.
The episode starts with a little throw back to Season 1. In a new scene, Walter and Jesse are out in the desert cooking, when Walter makes a phone call to Skyler explaining why he’ll be late home. During the conversation, Skyler suggests the name Holly for their unborn daughter, and they both agree on it. Walter walks out of shot, leaving us with the RV in the desert.
“Walter, you are the smartest person I ever met, and you’re too stupid to see he made up his mind 10 minutes ago”
We meet Jesse again, locked up in a cell; battered, bruised and handcuffed. Todd brings him out and into a warehouse, and attaches him to a harness (Think Hannibal in Red Dragon), forcing him to cook Meth.
I think that was possibly the best episode of Breaking Bad ever. Hell, one of the best hours of TV ever! The tension was unbearable, and watching Hank die was absolutely painful. I’ve never really been a fan of Marie but I felt so sorry for her.
Oh, and I was wrong; Jesse isn’t dead! But even worse; he’s not a puppet for the Nazis. How on Earth is he going to get out of this one? He’s chained to the ceiling like a dog. There’s no escape. But hey, I was right about Gomez. Not exactly happy about that fact to be honest, he was pretty cool character. But as I said in my last review, the only character who was safe was Walter; there was always a chance Hank would kick it. And the way he did it was too much to handle. I’d like to congratulate Dean Norris on the amazing work he’s done on this show, especially in this last season, surely earning himself an Emmy nomination.
2 episodes left and it’s all over. I couldn’t even begin to predict where this is going. All I know is that there is no light at the end of the tunnel; we’ve seen Walt a year from now, full head of hair, returning to his house which is in ruins with Heisenberg written across the wall as he retrieves the hidden Risin. But we know he has a new identity now. Will his story stay separate from everyone else? Who gave him the gun in the car? All these questions will be answered in the next 2 weeks, but right now let me say that this was an absolutely amazing episode, and as the end grows closer, we realise that there is no happy ending for anyone.
2 episodes until the end!
