2015 is set to be a year that just keeps giving to gamers with a metric ton of games to be excited for, which may leave your wallets, purses and bank accounts feeling a bit a light but you know it’s worth it. So without further ado I present to you some of the games I’m most looking forward to and purchasing this year. by Ben Mapp No-one expected Volition to announce another story-driven DLC for Saints Row IV after How the Saints Save Christmas was said to be the final adventure for these characters. However, being prompted to upgrade Saints Row IV for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One might have played a part in changing their minds. Let's take a look at the latest (and this time 'last') DLC for Saints Row IV, which actually stars Johnny Gat (voiced by Daniel Dae Kim) and Kinzie Kensington (voiced by Natalie Lander) in playable roles. Gat Out of Hell introduces a sizable new sandbox setting, along with a whole new story for veteran Saints to play around in. by Vanessa 'Nessie' Hague Stuck on what to do in Kyrat? Wondering how to get the most out of the gorgeous scenery? And are you just a little bit tired of the constant bickering between Sabal and Amita? Perturbed perhaps because you always stumble across a group of Royal Army soldiers and feel it necessary to go on a rampage in the name of your late mother's ashes. Well then, fear not because do we have the list for you - a few things you can try just to reveal in the rich world Ubisoft created for Far Cry 4. by the IWG Games Team The wacky combination of over-the-top humor, FPS gameplay and RPG leveling system has made Borderlands one of the more recognised modern titles worldwide. It is therefore no surprise that Gearbox Software has finally begun production of 'the big one', likely to be the long awaited Borderlands 3, for current gen systems. AND THEY'RE HIRING! by Stephen Hyland Almost a year and a half from it's initial release on last-gen consoles, Grand Theft Auto V has still not yet been released on PC. In case you missed their announcement last week, Rockstar have officially declared a March release date - delaying the game a final time in order to make it ready for a stable PC launch. by Ben Mapp Even before its release Assassin's Creed: Unity faced controversy. The developers found themselves in hot water when they revealed that they had refused to invest in the resources required to make playable female protagonists in the game's online co-op mode. This caused a backlash from fans and even caused some to boycott the game's release in November, but also made a mockery of Ubisoft as one of gaming's leading designers in the industry today. by Paul Robert Scott There have been a number of games putting you in the very well made shoes of 007 over the years. Generally these have varied in style and quality by quite a substantial degree, having started out in the 1980’s as rather standard platformers, until GoldenEye brought Bond into the 3D FPS age. Yet, for all the opportunities provided, there has never really been a truly great Bond game by Vanessa 'Nessie' Hague The RPG genre is one that is filled with variety; from the large open-world scale of Fallout, Borderlands and The Elder Scrolls series, to the moral decision making of Mass Effect and Dragon Age - the amount of freedom and player choice offered within these games is staggering. Even RPGs on a smaller scale, such as The Wolf Among Us or the more recent Tales from the Borderlands, offer an insane amount of choice. We all know that the modern RPG is built around this core mechanic of player choice and so my question, one that I have asked myself time again is, can there be a strict canon within an RPG? by John Philip Jennings We're already well into January 2015, more games will soon be upon us. There's a few I'm looking forward to this year and I'm sure there will be a few more to add to that list once summer arrives (along with E3). I have my own input on what I would like to see at this years E3 which I will cover in another article, but for now I'm gonna talk about some of the games that got announced last year and have still yet to be released. so here are the games I can't wait to get my hands on. by Maia Jern Outdoor Retreat is the first official game pack for The Sims 4, and introduces holidays to the game. You can now send your Sims on camping or cabin trips to the beautiful new holiday destination of Granite Falls. When you arrive, you can rent a cabin (from the simple to the extravagant, with matching prices), or just head to the campsite (which is the cheapest option). I revisited my very first family, the Rowe-Newsomes, to try this out. Their little girl Clara is all grown up and in high school now. She even has a boyfriend. Her mothers were a bit sceptical in the beginning, but as long as she’s happy, they’re happy. |
