Alien Isolation is the upcoming title from SEGA about, yes, you’re right, the Alien Universe. Yes. Again. But I think I really should attract your notice to the singular word there, ‘Alien.’ What does that mean I hear you shout? It means that this game is going to be about the Alien movie, not the Aliens movies. There’s a big difference. Now, instead of mowing down hordes of horrifically animated beasts, you’ll be fighting to survive a singular creature lurking in the halls of a seemingly abandoned space shuttle. Slightly interested? Good.

Good. By Stephen Hyland Anticipated Games: inFAMOUS Second Son With so many new games being released over the next year, it can be hard to keep track of all of them. From Watch Dogs to Destiny, or The Order 1887 to Thief (and these are just a few). But within this article, I’d like to have a particular focus on a game, that even when the first trailer filled with Pre-Alpha, unpolished gameplay, it took my breath away. I am talking of the third game in its series: inFAMOUS Second Son. With the first two games proving to be marvellous, I without a doubt have the highest of hopes for this game. By Luke Kirby (Before I begin to discuss this game I feel there’s something important to note, I own Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the PS3 and PC as well as the Director’s Cut version also on PC. Finally I got round to playing it when I received it as a gift for the Wii U for Christmas.) The year is 2027 and the lines of humanity are somewhat blurred with people being able to essentially become part human and part machine. In Deus Ex you find yourself taking the role of Sarif Industries (a growing biotech company) head of security Adam Jensen. After being severely wounded in a terrorist attack against the company he has to undergo surgery to be saved, resulting in him receiving advanced prosthesis to replace his damaged body. This attack also claims the lives of important researchers who were on the verge of making massive breakthrough for Sarif Industries including Jensen’s ex-girlfriend Megan Reed. Upon returning to work he finds himself in search of the attackers. By Stephen Hyland Sledgehammer games, Infinity Ward, Activision? What is this madness? Something doesn't seem right. But hey maybe it's a good thing. Maybe... By Reece Merryweather-Brown Yeah, I know, you’ve probably heard of this. And if you haven’t excellent. One of Lucas Arts’ last games (before the b****** mouse shut them down, got rid of Star Wars 1313 and then decided to ride the movie franchise for its miniscule worth) was far from met with critical acclaim. Or any sort of acclaim really. No-one liked it. Except me. And here’s why. By Carla Hodge It will be difficult to tell from this review, another review, or any number of other reviews combined, whether you will like The Novelist or not. If you're a fan of similar games like Depression Quest or Gone Home, there's no guarantee you will like this game. If you usually spend your time with AAA, action-packed titles, there's no guarantee that you won't like this game. It's a tricky beast. By Carla Hodge Now, I don't mean to sound ungrateful. The Master System was my first ever proper console, and I played the heck out of that thing. I still have it, lurking in a crate somewhere, awaiting its second life in the dedicated games room of my imaginary future mansion. Whilst it had some fantastic games (Alex Kidd in Miracle World, anyone?) there wasn't much comparison with the much mightier Mega Drive, especially when certain games came out on both systems. There was obviously a huge difference in graphical prowess, but the difference was a little painful at times. Especially when that one really annoying kid at school had the 16-bit future in his bedroom, and the bragging rights to go with it. So. Let's wind our way back to the early 90s, when bum bags were cool, Macaulay Culkin was cute, and we were still winding up cassette tapes with pencils... By Carla Hodge The first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Onslaught, is coming at the end of January for Xbox Live players (sorry, other platforms, no news on your release date yet). While the game may be a bit of a repeat (large understatement noted) this DLC pack sounds...different to say the least. By Reece Merryweather-Brown Well, it's been a while since the next gen's been out now. Christmas has passed and in its wake, many a happy child/adolescent/man has clutched a videogame to their chest in glee. So before you go out and buy one of those new-fangled pieces of tech, I think it'd be a good idea to take a little look at a game that you should definitely play before you leave it all behind. |
