Grand Theft Auto V - Kifflom!

4/25/2013

Some of you won’t have a clue what I’m talking about. You’ll be sitting in your seat right now thinking, “what is he talking about?” I bet that’s what you’re doing; I could put money on it. You’re either staring blankly at the screen or you’re trying to work what Kifflom is. It’s not even a word, is it? Oh contraire! For fellow hardcore GTA fans out there, Kifflom is just as recognisable now as it was eight-and-a-half years ago when it first appeared in San Andreas. For everyone else, I may have some explaining to do…

Kifflom was/is the deity of a religious cult known as the Epsilon Program that appeared in GTA: San Andreas in 2004. An obvious spoof of similar “religions” such as Scientology, the cult and its reclusive leader Chris Formage were mentioned a lot on San Andreas’ in-game radio network, but it never physically appeared in the game itself. It seemed largely insignificant to the story or the actual gameplay, and at the time it was just add another level to the atmosphere of the world that was Rockstar Game’s spoof of Nineties’ California.

By Jamie Kennett

Rockstar Games has sent us all another little present in the run-up to GTA V; they have just released a pair of artworks for the game, which is set to arrive in stores on the 17th of September. The two artworks, collectively called Cash and Carry, respectively depict two of the three playable characters in the game; veteran bank robber Michael and semi-legitimate repo man Franklin.

Why I’m still a sucker for Assassin’s Creed...

4/15/2013

By Tomas Keavney

With the recent announcement of the sixth game in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, comes a rather polarised set of reactions from the game’s fans. Playing this time around as Edward Kenway, the swashbuckling pirate assassin, we are set to be treated with another helping of the lineage that Assassin’s Creed 3 gave us. Edward, the grandfather of Ratonhnhaké:ton (Connor), and father of the Templar, Haytham, already seems to be a much more fleshed out character than Ratonhnhaké:ton ever was. He’s set to be greedy, ruthless and charming, all in equal measure (everything that you would want a pirate to be), and he’s an assassin, too.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Villains I'd like to see 'Arkamised' (Spoilers)

4/9/2013

By Josh Crooks

Being a massive 'batfan' and video game geek has rarely been as profitable as it has during the Arkham Asylum series released by Rocksteady in recent years. Before this, gamers were treated to a slew of games that ranged from bad to mediocre (Batman Begins, Batman: Return of the Joker) with the odd diamond in the rough such as the original NES game and fantastic Batman: Vengeance. So, with today’s announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins, new developers Warner Brothers Games Montreal or WBGM for short (the people who developed the Wii U version of Arkham City), have big shoes to fill. With Deathstroke already announced as one of the 8 rouge's gallery villains/assassins to be in the game, here's the list of characters I'd like to fill the other 7 slots.

With the release of the long awaited Grand Theft Auto V... sometime soon, and the recent reveal of the box art, there are many things I’m desperate to see make a return to the franchise. So what exactly would I like to see from Rockstar North’s flagship game?

Grand Theft Auto V: Box Art Revealed!

4/3/2013

Picture
By Jamie Kennett

A group of GTA-loving fellows in New York City recently began work on a mural for the series’ new release, which consisted of a mock-up of Grand Theft Auto V’s box art. The design looked convincing, and could have quite easily fooled a large number of people into thinking it was the genuine article. That was until yesterday, when Rockstar Games befittingly released the actual cover for the game, which is set to hit stores on the 17th September.

The Walking Dead Game - Season 1 review

4/3/2013

Everyone loves a good old-fashioned zombie shoot ‘em up, there’s just something so mechanical about it. See biter, aim at the head and shoot until that bastard falls down with brains spread all over the pavement, because Zombies can't live without their brains and that's just how we roll when it comes to dealing with the undead. Standard, yo.

Bioshock Infinite (2013)

4/1/2013

Picture
By Christopher Money

(Caution - Slight Spoilers)

1912 was an interesting year, with (among other things) three territories gained by the United States, the sinking of the Titanic, the first parachute jump and military use of airships, and an assassination attempt on Roosevelt, who then stepped down in November for Woodrow Wilson. And, if Bioshock Infinite is anything to go by, an entire city floating in the skies was torn apart by political riots when the false shepherd came to steal the lamb of the Prophet.

If that sentence isn’t enough to go by, let me tell you now that the new masterpiece by Irrational Games does, on the outset, appear to be a shooter, but when you delve into it you find a horde of political and religious opinions, all vying for your attention.
