By John Philip Jennings Having played Destiny for approximately nine hours I've only just hit the point of new content I didn't reach during the Beta. The first area hasn't changed much, with only minor tweaks applied to the game's enemies, and also to the various locations to stop exploits. When I played the Beta I really enjoyed the content on offer having never been a big fan of MMO's I can start to see why some people enjoy them, with destiny there seems to be plenty of room for expansion. By Luke Kirby As the title of this article suggests there will be no spoilers when it comes to my thoughts of Telltale’s Games The Walking Dead Season Two, but before I do say anything and if (for some reason) you’re yet to play or complete the first season go away and do that now because the ending for Season One will be spoiler for you otherwise. By Daniel Lamb ‘Dragon, Dragon! Rock the Dragon! Dragon Ball Z! Dragon, Dragon! Rock the Dragon! Come get me!’ Alright, so lyrically speaking it’s not exactly William Blake, but this was the theme song of a generation. It’s the year 2000, it’s 5:30pm, you’ve just come home from a long day at school learning about Vikings, and now you’re tuned into Cartoon Network. Of course, you are; you don’t want to miss the next exciting episode of Dragon Ball Z! By Ben Mapp To celebrate the UK cinema release of the highly anticipated How To Train Your Dragon 2, we’re looking back at one of the most memorable and recognisable dragons in the history of gaming. Whilst his games seem to have drifted into lowly spin-off territory now (just check out Skylanders, and cringe if you must) but Spyro the Dragon has starred in a grand total of thirteen games, spanning a range of consoles since 1998 – which I think you’ll agree is impressive for any adolescent reptile. The IWG Games Team And so the long journey reaches its end. The final boss is defeated and the gameplay dissolves into a final, rewarding cinematic. But there are some such endings which stand out to us a lot more than others, ensuring that the game in question (whatever it may be) remains on our shelves forever. Here are our favourite endings in gaming. Spoilers galore! By John Philip Jennings Over the past decade there has been one particular genre that has repeatedly dominated the gaming charts. In fact, it can even be claimed that the first-person shooter has defined the previous generation of consoles. As your usually silent protagonist cuts through hordes of enemies with automatic firearm, the genre's success has seen it remain steadfast in the ongoing console war. By Ben Mapp The release of Ubisoft's highly anticipated Watch Dogs back in May quite upset a few of our writers, myself included. Whilst both story and gameplay were okay, the 360 edition had such shockingly bad visuals it was almost insulting. In an attempt to cheer ourselves up, we're taking a look back at another open world game which was released nearly a year ago. By Ben Mapp E3 is reaching its end, but thanks to Ubisoft we have been left with serious hints as to the future of Assassin's Creed. With the series making its next-gen debut this October with Unity, I'm taking the opportunity to take a detailed look back at one of the franchise's most lesser-played titles. Originally unveiled as Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and released exclusively to the PS Vita in 2012, this game is arguably one of the obscurer entries into the series. It features a female Assassin named Aveline who – exerting all of her skills in combat, disguise and infiltration – must expose a conspiracy concerning slaves in her hometown of New Orleans. By Ben Mapp If our recent review of Watch_Dogs didn't convince you that Ubisoft are anything but the expert craftsmen we describe them to be when it comes to putting together lively, visual and utterly immersive gaming worlds, then perhaps this will make you see reason. But of course, the open sea is a treacherous place, so make ready the sails and man those cannons as we continue our in-depth reflection into last year's swashbuckling epic, Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag. |
