With gamers being spoilt with information left, right and centre from the likes of Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Bethesda it was finally time for Square Enix to enter the fray and deliver. “Did they deliver?” I hear you cry, well. Let’s dive into what they had on offer at this year's E3.

Ubisoft at E3!

Out of all the developer presentations at E3, Ubisoft's may find itself to be the most scrutinized. Over the past two years they have been heavily criticized repeatedly; most notably for the finished quality of Assassins Creed Unity and the lukewarm reception that Watch Dogs received on release. Nevertheless they continue to have a large following that have awaited this conference with baited breath.

Microsoft at E3!

Microsoft’s presence at E3 is always an excitable affair, bringing forward what is often the best of the games industry for the coming months. When I covered the E3 conference last year, I was surprised and excited at the reveals that Microsoft had in store, this year however I feel something was lacking about Microsoft's Press Conference; maybe it was the missing Call of Duty campaign footage that usually debuts, or perhaps the lack of exciting exclusive titles that actually made me interested. Regardless, here’s what Microsoft had to offer.

EA at E3!

Without a doubt, EA's conference was the most "embarassing dad" conference at this E3; thinking they're funny and laughing at their own jokes, trumpeting sports and begrudgingly talking about their other least favourite franchises. Basically it was one big circle-jerk that lasted an hour and a half, with EA thinking they're the bee's knees, whilst the audience were actually witnessing a car crash in slow motion. But, the conference was similar to last year's and I suppose we know what to expect by now.

Sony started off strong this year, Strong and Ambitious. Presenter Shawn Layden gave a strong opening speech about what was to come throughout the presentation, but nothing could have prepared anyone for the amazing announcements that were made or the gorgeous and ambitious games we saw.

Earthbound comes to Wii U

6/15/2015

In the early hours of the night (here in the UK), during Nintendo’s world championship tournaments as one of the first events of this year’s E3, Nintendo announced that they would be releasing a localised version of the original Mother game onto the Wii U. Known more commonly in the west as the Earthbound series, only the second and third instalment were ever released west of Japan, known as Earthbound 1 and 2. If anything, this seems to have come much too late, since Ness from the series has been in every instalment of Super Smash Bros. to date, yet there has been no release of the first game in the series until now.

Catching Up With Game of Thrones - Sons of Winter

6/11/2015

Episode four of Telltale’s Game of Thrones seems to have slipped under the radar, maybe because of big titles such as The Witcher III (which came the week prior) and Nintendo’s Splatoon being released close together, but episode four has really picked up the pace.

Ratchet & Clank (2016) Trailer

It's no news to say that Ratchet & Clank is getting the big screen treatment next year, but accompanying the new film which, although made by Insomniac Games (the same developer who begun the series all those years ago), oddly takes place in a totally separate continuity to the one gamers are so familiar with.

Events where gamers voluntarily leave the comfort of their consoles and journey out into the real world in search of companionship, food and banter are such a novelty in the North West of England. But the 5th June was one such occasion, the setting being Manchester's Gorilla bar - a place where a showcase of nostalgia, hybrid music and gaming culture would beautifully converge. Welcome to iPlayGaming.
