Catching Up With Game of Thrones - Sons of Winter

6/11/2015

Episode four of Telltale’s Game of Thrones seems to have slipped under the radar, maybe because of big titles such as The Witcher III (which came the week prior) and Nintendo’s Splatoon being released close together, but episode four has really picked up the pace.

The feel of each previous episode has had that they’re all leading to something and finally we see plans and plots unfolding. Fortunately there are even some that benefit our beloved Forresters who have had been on the receiving end of all the worst.

Sons of Winter has managed to progress the story in more significant ways than all of the three previous episodes. Players still have tough decisions to make and in some ways it felt like these decisions were in much more abundance because there was so much going on in all story arcs. Finally the Forresters have begun to obtain some form of high ground whether it be learning information about friend or foe alike that can then be used how you see fit, taking chances and just in general some form of luck shining upon them. Admittedly none of these are great strides but they are still progress for House Forrester in restoring their former glory. Yet in true Game of Thrones fashion I can’t help but think these are all just tasty morsels that will turn to ash by the end of the next episode.

In their continuing tradition of ending their episodes at a ‘oh shit’ moment episode four was no different, again leaving me wondering just what exactly will happen in the following episode. Here’s to hoping they shorten the length between episode releases.

Now our watch begins.

Short but sweet, but ultimately that's what Telltale games tend to be. We're just looking forward to seeing what happens next in their Game of Thrones series.
