Without a doubt, EA's conference was the most "embarassing dad" conference at this E3; thinking they're funny and laughing at their own jokes, trumpeting sports and begrudgingly talking about their other least favourite franchises. Basically it was one big circle-jerk that lasted an hour and a half, with EA thinking they're the bee's knees, whilst the audience were actually witnessing a car crash in slow motion. But, the conference was similar to last year's and I suppose we know what to expect by now.

Basically it was one big circle-jerk that lasted an hour and a half, with EA thinking they're the bee's knees, whilst the audience were actually witnessing a car crash in slow motion. But, the conference was similar to last year's and I suppose we know what to expect by now.
There were no real surprises in the conference itself; they showcased their biggest upcoming releases like Mirror's Edge 2, Fifa 16 (which now features women's teams for the first time), Star Wars: Battlefront, Plants Vs. Zombies 2 and a new Need for Speed title. Inbetween those a nice little indie title called Unravel was also revealed which looks lovely and full of heart (bless the Swedish presenter and his little yarnie). Something that could be considered a surprise, if you want to call it that, was the quiet inclusion of Mass Effect 4; a teaser opened the conference and besides some lovely location shots, it revealed the title will offcially be called Mass Effect Andromeda.

NBA Live 16, the next NHL title, Fifa 16 amongst others were covered. They also got Pele out on stage and interviewed him which was nice I guess and if all this didn't show that EA love sports, well, now you know - THEY FUCKING LOVE SPORTS.

The biggest thing most people were looking forward to, I'd wager, was the section on Star Wars: Battlefront. Delivering the one thing that people had been asking for the most - gameplay, EA definitely saved the best till last. Showcasing the "walker assault mode" which draws influence from the iconic Battle of Hoth, the gameplay can only be described as epic. The game feels immense and large in scope; when the gameplay cut to show the Empire side of gameplay, with the player character running alongside the AT-AT, I got goosebumps. If Battlefront can deliver this and more, there is no doubt that it will be a huge success.
So all in all, it was a relatively safe conference from EA and very heavy on the sports. But it was exactly the same last year and it will probably be the same next year. And the year after that and the year after that one, and after that one as well...

Same old thing from EA but we do fancy a closer look at Mass Effect Andromeda and we frankly can't wait until Battlefront.
