A ten year plan for Destiny they said; lots of new DLC in the pipeline to keep players hooked and coming back for more is what they've been promising. House of Wolves which is the latest DLC expansion for Destiny, released on May 19th across all available platforms and boasts an all new social space, gear, exotic pieces and a brand new, never seen before (on Destiny at least) "Horde Mode".

Strap on your Healing Imbued armor and get ready for a hike because the Jaws of Hakkon are stirring up trouble in the latest Dragon Age Inquisition expansion pack Jaws of Hakkon. The DLC takes us on a journey to a new area called the Frostback Basin. The area will cost 8 power to unlock, but if you are playing with a completed Inquisition game that shouldn’t be a problem. Be sure that you are playing with a high level Inquisitor, my recommendation is at least a level 25 because this expansion is a beast.

There are some games that you know for certain will be a success long before they reach the retail shelves (or the download store in this modern age). From the knowledge that the first two Witcher titles were widely considered to be great RPG experiences it was a fair bet that the third instalment could replicate this with the proper care, but with every trailer and every piece of gameplay footage seen, it became ever more clear that Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was going to be something very special.

It goes without saying that E3 is one of, if not the biggest event in gaming, an event that gives developers a chance to show off their hard work to the press and public, an event which takes place each year. Here are some games I want to see announced at this year's conferences (if not before). Most of these games are titles which I've followed for a while.

Month after month, PS Plus subscribers have a healthy rosta of "free" games (mainly indies with the odd AAA title thrown in) and this month is no different.

With Fable Legends releasing later this year, I thought it the right time to look back over the Fable series and discuss how Lionhead Studios could better its flagship RPG franchise. The series is one which seems to have all of the right ingredients, such as addictive gameplay, topnotch customisation as well as some really neat voice acting, but sadly - in terms of quality - I feel that it's fair to say that Fable, as an IP, has always fallen short on its expectations especially when compared to its rivals. We live in a gaming world where RPGs are still dominant. Just look at the success of last year's Dragon Age: Inquisition, which has since been heralded as one of the best and most beautiful games that crosses generations. So why has the Fable series failed to top the same plinth throughout its life?

Factions is The Last of Us’ take on multiplayer. However, instead of feeling shoe-horned in because practically EVERY game has a multiplayer component nowadays, the mode feels fresh and exciting, even when it sticks to only three modes, two of which are takes on your classic Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy. For the most part, these tips mainly apply to the Team Deathmatch mode, however most can be applied to all modes. Happy hunting.

Let's talk quantity. Roughly 21 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold since it's introduction to the market and the Xbox One has had over 12 million units sold also. Trailing behind both of them is Nintendo's Wii U, with around 9.5 million consoles sold. That's still a great amount of sales. However, the Wii U was the first of this generation's consoles to hit the shelves - it cannot be denied that the lower sales indicate gamers are opting for other mediums or consoles to play on instead. This may be partly due to the growing popularity of PC gaming.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases next week, and we're taking the time to look back at the previous entries to this epic fantasy series. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released in 2012 on PC and consoles, and like its direct predecessor (released in 2007 exclusively for PC) is based off the series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowzi. The series follows the adventures of infamous Witcher (basically a genetically enhanced monster hunter) known as Geralt of Rivia, a hero whose past is shrouded in as much mystery to us as to himself.

There are two types of racing games in this world: fast and furious, arcade speedsters that only use physics as a means to stop cars achieving orbit after a crash, and rigorously accurate simulations that attempt to make gaming as real as your morning commute… Project CARS is most definitely placed in that latter column. In this case however, this is certainly no bad thing. |
