There’s been a lot of anger surrounding Ubisoft’s latest offering from the world of the Assassin’s Creed. It’s gotten more than a few of us here at IWG vexed that we’ll be unable to play as a female assassin, even though this choice has been given to us time and again before, meaning that not only was it possible but they made a conscious decision not to include it (and their bogus excuse for not including half the world’s population is ridiculous at best.) Gameplay-wise though the studio aims to break through common barriers in the gaming series and to respond directly to qualms that players have had with Unity’s predecessors.

By Reece Merryweather-Brown TV is becoming a bigger and bigger medium than it ever was back in the day, and as time goes on it’s quickly gaining more and more credibility. And, like films, ambitious video game companies have already turned some TV shows into (if not successful) video games. And so with Telltale’s interpretation of HBO's Game of Thrones on the horizon, I decided to take a look at some other TV shows that I think are deserving of a video game. The IWG Games Team It's never easy to retain originality in an industry where creative forces are working endlessly to produce unique, top quality content. But here at IWG we're just as ambitious as any of them (and even more so than most), and we're going to give it our best shot. We were given a title at random and our writers each went away and developed a different pitch for it. Read what they had to say about it right here! The IWG Games Team And so the long journey reaches its end. The final boss is defeated and the gameplay dissolves into a final, rewarding cinematic. But there are some such endings which stand out to us a lot more than others, ensuring that the game in question (whatever it may be) remains on our shelves forever. Here are our favourite endings in gaming. Spoilers galore! By Reece Merryweather-Brown You’ve done quite a lot in your time in Los Santos and the surrounding Blaine County. You’ve thwarted and committed various muggings, murders and robberies. You’ve purchased vehicle upon vehicle and you’ve got as much ammo as you can carry for every weapon. By Reece Merryweather-Brown This year’s E3 has been an explosion of video game content, from gameplay of Mortal Kombat X, to a cinematic trailer of upcoming third-person MMO game, The Division. There’s been such a wide variety of content that it’s hard to pick out the truly amazing releases that stand out from the rest. However, IWGers are some of the most determined folk on these here internets. And you can sure as hell bet we're going to try! By the IWG Games Team So the excitement of E3 is over for another year, and we took the opportunity to ask some of our writers what they thought of the recent conferences and if there was a clear winner this year. Despite the differing opinions, everyone seems to be in agreement that EA's conference just blatantly sucked. Yes dear reader, you read that correctly. Now, for the first time the series has seen, up to four Assassins can team up and embark on a co-operative stabby adventure. So far, very few official details have actually arisen, the only word coming from a nameless source, relayed through Twitter user ‘shinobi602’, an ex-NeoGAF poster. He revealed that there would be two demos, one surely destined for E3, for both singleplayer and another showcasing the new 4 player co-operative mode. by Reece Merryweather-Brown Now, I’m not much for anime. In fact, Japanese culture as a whole sort of creeps me out. But when I picked up this little game for a mere tenner all of my prejudgements flew straight out the window. Based off the critically acclaimed anime of the same name Afro Samurai tells the story of Afro, the imaginatively named hero of the story, who is on a quest to become the Number One, and avenge his father’s death. And imagine my happiness when I learned that none other than Samuel L. freakin’ Jackson was a voice. How awesome is that? You take control of Afro, who is instantly recognisable by his comically large black…afro. Where do they come up with the names for these characters? By Reece Merryweather-Brown Well, April is upon us, bringing us such delights as April Fool’s Day, the Easter Holidays and my birthday (I know it’s not your birthday let me enjoy it! Unless it is, in which case HAPPY BIRTHDAY) But that’s not all this wondrous month is bringing us, so let’s look at the interactive digital treats that we’ve got in store for us (but namely me.) |
