Now, I’m not much for anime. In fact, Japanese culture as a whole sort of creeps me out. But when I picked up this little game for a mere tenner all of my prejudgements flew straight out the window. Based off the critically acclaimed anime of the same name Afro Samurai tells the story of Afro, the imaginatively named hero of the story, who is on a quest to become the Number One, and avenge his father’s death. And imagine my happiness when I learned that none other than Samuel L. freakin’ Jackson was a voice. How awesome is that? You take control of Afro, who is instantly recognisable by his comically large black…afro. Where do they come up with the names for these characters?

In terms of helping you play the game it doesn't help that much, other than to get a fairly easy insta-kill. But aesthetically it’s one of the coolest things you can do in any fighting game.

Overall, this game is great. If you like anime, fighting or Samuel L. Jackson then I highly recommend you pick up this game. Think of how cheap it must be if I got it for a tenner like 4 years ago! And sure, the graphics might feel outdated along with the gameplay, but if you truly immerse yourself, which is so easy to do, then the game is just non-stop pleasure the whole way through. So please, go find it. You’ll not regret it.
