New COD: Ghosts DLC Combines Horror, Rockets, Aliens and... Michael Myers?

The first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Onslaught, is coming at the end of January for Xbox Live players (sorry, other platforms, no news on your release date yet). While the game may be a bit of a repeat (large understatement noted) this DLC pack sounds...different to say the least.

For the multiplayer map aficionados, there’s four new maps: a Mexican town with a dried-out riverbed running through it, a pleasant-looking boardwalk with dangerous-looking ships on the horizon, a US launch pad, and a dark and foggy wooded grass area that wouldn’t be out of place in your average horror film.

Each level has new rewards for completing a field order, including launching artillery attacks, setting off a radioactive missile, and donning a mask and axe to become Michael Myers from the Halloween films. Wait, what? Yep. In the new Fog level, players can run around with the iconic Halloween music playing in the background, axe in hand, and, er…be scary? It fits well with the atmosphere of the level, but it’s a little out of left field.

Hey! Hands-off the HD face!
Also on offer for multiplayers are a couple of new weapons; an assault rifle that also comes with a handy dandy scope, which will cover most play styles. For anyone interested in the campaign, the first part of a new five part mini-series will tell the origin story of the aliens from Extinction mode, revealing what happened after Point of Contact finished. There’s a couple of new alien types, including one that Infinity Ward have described as ‘the biggest boss they’ve ever created’. There will also be a new weapon based on other-worldly technology.

I hope so too Brick. I hope so too...
The Onslaught DLC will be available to Xbox Live owners from 28th January. Have a gander at the trailer here.
